The money you spend when both cars are said and done your still spending WAY MORE on the bimmer. That's my point, I never said the bimmer was **** it's a very capable car, but a very different car from the 8. Much lighter so it will be faster most of the time. But it has it's drawbacks too. So anyway you slice it between the 8 and the Z your still a moron. Have a nice life, ya big baby.
I never mentioned a word about the Z you F#cking idiot. I was speaking of the 135i. As far as the HP/price ratio, the JB3 piggyback cost ~$800, and has produced upwards of 360 WHP and 370 TQ--with NO other mods.

Does that make the 135i a "better" car? No, but for the point of this conversation, and demonstrating that you can't follow a thread, or pay attention, it's a valid argument.

Listen. I think the RX8 is a phenomenal piece of engineering, and I never actually complained about it. Once again, I may very likely trade for a 2009.

Tell you what, LOSE, why don't you go get high and strum on your guitar for a while. I'm almost irritated that I engaged in a dialog with someone that actually includes "drinking and getting high" in their listed interests.

Brian Jessel owner of perhaps the largest BMW Canada store and I were commenting on the STi vs the then new 135i ... i said the 135i looks more "grown-up" he replied "You should never be too grown-up to have fun". I reckon he quite liked the STi.
My car has 255HP stock. It's decent. I just miss the linear, intense speed buildup from the rotary and the "whir" sound it made when downshifting. GOD! now i miss it more!

someone mentioned the bmw car club... i think i'll check it out. i'm also a member of bimmerfest.com forum. it's not bad

Why? What specifically didn't you like about the 135i? I haven't had the chance to drive one yet, so I've been curious.

I am so fed up with BMW, I rather take the bus then buy a BMW.

Old BMW was a car to admire and envy but now its just another car.

Z3 m Coupé and M3 E46 was the last good ones.

Has tested Z4 3.0Si, 130i and 335i great engines but the rest are bad.

It just doesn't have the sportscar feel like the RX-8 does. BMWs are more of a sports sedan than a sportscar. To me, the RX-8 is just more raw and makes you feel engaged with the driving experience more. Rx-8 has direct steering, immediate throttle response, high revving engine, nice exhaust note, etc....

The 135i handles well but just feels like a much heavier car (which it is) when you throw it into a corner.

Very good description.

For those thinking of a BMW, join the BMW Club 1st and you'll start receiving their slick magazine "Roundel". I joined so I could join in their HPDEs. But the "Letters to the Editor" and the tech questions letters will likely put you off wanting to actually own a Bimmer, vs. just vicariously listening to the litany of technical issues, warranty problems, overheating issues, PCM issues, and general dissatisfaction or resignation by owners to the myriad of difficulties they experience with the cars, 1 and 3 series prominent among them. Sobering reading to say the least. As is mentioned often in the pages, "Don't own a BMW out of warranty!"

Take heart that RX-8 difficulties are minor in comparison.

Smart buyers who intend long term ownership take all the costs associated with ownership into account...even post warranty costs. Most bimmer owners I know are not bothered by the potential for $2-$4k in maintenance per year after the warranty is up.

As for me, I have a warranty all the way through my 4year loan term to make sure I am covered while I owe...after my payment is gone it could cost $10k per year in maintenance and I would still be way ahead.

Bimmers cost what they cost as do other cars...either you are willing to pay it or you are not. As long as you have accepted that going in you will most likely be a happy owner!

Driving a Lexus and Mercedes doesn't compare much to a 3 series sport. They are great cruisers, but the 3 series with the sport suspension are just in another league. i drive my girlfriend's Lexus IS all the time and it's super plush (and super numb) compared to my car. the 330 even has power side bolsters to keep you in place in the twisties.
