I went in to my dealer Saturday to talk about ordering a 2006 RX8. The regular sales guy says he doesn't know that much about the car, so gets the Mazda manager.

He's pretty helpful. Shows me an invoice sheet of several RX8s the dealership is getting in, likely in April.

Now here's where it gets weird. He says he has two shinkas coming in, onecopper red and one snowflake white.

I asked him if he was sure, as I was pretty certain you could only get the shinka in copper red in the U.S. He insisted the white one was a shinka. I didn't want to be a dick and argue with him, but I think he's mis-informed.

Any shinka color experts out there have any insight?

 

At the DC auto show the Shinka display said the available colors would be: Snowflake White Pearl, Copper Red, Galaxy Grey and Brilliant Black. It was also identified as a 2007 model (but so was the Mazda CX-7 which is also going to be available in April).

 

yes you can get the shinka in 4 colors this year BUT the copper is only available on the shinka. cant get copper on a "regular" 8

Unfortunately, they said the earliest it will be in is mid to late April.

As Tom Petty said, the waiting is the hardest part.

 

Ah, but the wait will be worth it!
