so I went to the dealership today...
... to have a first hand look at the shinka they just got in (the copper red one, DAMN it looks nice)...
and while I was there looking at it a salesman came out, and among the other things that he told me, he said
"this car keeps it's value really well, bro"
I had to try really hard not to bust up laughing in his face, amazing how little they know about what they sell.

They will continue to hold there value as long as they don't over produce.

Back on topic, I've always steered clear of special editions because they rarely end up being worth any more than the regular version at resale. For example, it amazes me when folks on eBay call the 10th aniversary edition miata "rare". For that particular model year (99) it sold more than any other miata - there are more of them out there than the base model! Sure, SE's are nice at the time, but don't expect to get that money back when you sell.

Or sucker incentives. Mazda did a pretty good job of making it attractive. The copper red is a sic color, and they force you to pay top dollar for a it; for a f8ckin color!! Resale value is a foolish concern anyway. If you buy new, you lose the minute you sign the paperwork (not that I'm complaining, I love my8).
