There has been plenty said in this thread that all of us should keep in mind, regardless of age. Let's face it, we must all love cars and enjoy cars that can perform or we wouldn't be here in this forum. I know I've done some stupid things over the years but a lot less as I got older and better understood the implications of my actions. You could say I learned from a number of years of being lucky and realizing I had been lucky as a young man. This poor kid wasn't as lucky but it appears he did learn.

Driving under the influence is definately wrong. But I hate people that say things like you. You don't own the road. Your wife is probably just as dangerous with her cell phone while driving.

I'm not going to disagree with the first part of what you said, but there's no way cell phones cause more fatalities that alcohol. Not even close. Maybe more fender benders, but not fatal crashes. Certainly a bit of a guess of course.

I got a DWI about a year ago. I wasn't drunk, but I was under the influence nonetheless. Thankfully, I didn't hurt my car. It's a costly and hard experience to go through, but worth it if you actually learned your lesson.
I not sure, but the insurance may not cover the car since he was intoxicated. Better get a very good lawyer. He's going to need one.

Insurrance is going to pay off the car. I still owed the bank about 12,000 and thats what they covered. My insurrance(state farm) is dropping us next month, and we have to look for another company. Our current insurance agent is helping us look for another company, and so far the best quote i got soz

$10,000! Damn! I got a DWI (suspension), 2 speeding tickets, and 1 accident on my record and mine is only $1,200, every six months. I'm also a 23 year old male. It's probably going up again due to another recent accident. Try Esurance. I got them after my last accident.

State Farm canceled me and Esurance gave me the best quote. Everyone else wanted over $2,000.

DO NOT tell them you got a DWI. It should show up as a suspension on your driving record unless Hawaii has a different law.

My insurance company asked me if I knew that I had a suspension on my record and, if I was aware of it, why was it there. I just played dumb and told them I had no idea that it was there and that I was going to call the Dept. of Revenue right away to fix the problem. I never called them of course and the insurance company never found out.

By the way, STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING. I know you my feel like you're ok to drive after a few drinks, but you can and probably will hurt someone. Trust me I know from experience. I totaled a car, ran completely off the road several times, and even hit one of my friends with my car due to me being intoxicated. He passed out in front of my parked car after dark without me being aware of it so I'm not completely to blame (he only had a couple bad scrapes and bruises). I could have killed him nonetheless. I know that drinking and partying is a lot of fun, but if you drink and drive, YOU WILL PAY. A DWI is a slap on the wrist compared to what could've happened.

I did a a lot of stupid things in the past. Made a lot of mistakes. I learned from them.

I didn't post that message to get any STUPID, WEAK MINDED, AND SARCASTIC COMMENTS.

I posted it so maybe others can learn from my mistakes instead of making the same mistakes themselves. It's NOT something I'm proud of.

So, if anybody wants to poke fun or be a smartass then they should take it somewhere else.

Laudable. And certainly a valueable service to the community. I've already pointed others to this thread.

Not likely. You post something like this on a public forum like this, you have to expect these kinds of responses. Best you can do is just stand up and take it like a man. And again, of course, do what everybody here, polite or obnoxious, really wants you to do, which is truly learn from this experience and never repeat it. Time will tell.

Haha! I don't care if it's sarcastic or whatever. That was funny.

What got my goat was that I thought you were still trying to get him to lie his way out of insurance loading that he rightly deserves. ...even though I'm not too fond of insurance companies myself.

Because of that, I didn't realise that you had learnt from your mistakes. I apologise for assuming that you haven't.

This all happened during highschool, I was a little wild back then. I know I'm gonna get made fun of, but if I can keep at least one person from drinking and driving, it's worth it.

Didn't mean to be an ******* or anything. Not many people would put this kind of private info out for everyone to see.
