Woot. 3pm tomorrow afternoon I can pick up my car and drive it home, though I won't be going home first, I'm sure. I just couldn't wait another 15 days. I'll have to borrow a digital camera and get some pics as the camera in my phone just doesnt do the car justice.

Here's what I got:
Titanium 6 Speed MT, GT, Black leather, MP3 player, spoiler, appearance package, accent package. I'm paying 400 over invoice before TTL.

I'm glad to have this forum here as I've been reading it for quite some time now. I'll have to get a club sticker for my car.

See you all on the road!

I loved every minute of the test drive i took 3 weeks ago. I knew I was buying the car back then I just had to wait until the 5th. Then I found out I had more money than I thought and I don't have to wait so, yea, here we are!

I can't wait. I doubt I'll sleep very well tonight because of this, hahahaha.

Well, I figured I would update you all..

I did NOT get the car today. As I said earlier, something could always fall through and it did, big time.

What changed? The car. The dealer gave me a great quote, 400 over invoice for a great car, however, the car was not new. The car had 600 miles on it. 600 miles on a new car may not seem like much but 600 miles during the break in period of a sportscar is way too much. I talked to my parents, my lawyer and a few others and they all agreed with me that that is not a new car.

To further screw things up, they didnt want to accept my financing and stated that they don't pay their checks (carbuyingtips dealer scam #9). So I told them I'd be walking away and I wanted my deposite back because the car was not new as advertised. Of course, the dealer thought he could keep my deposite and if it is not refunded, they'll be hearing from AMEX. So, what did I do?

I sat down and did a search on the web for local dealers with inventories and 1 dealer had listed in his inventory a car configured exactly how I wanted. I gave him a call. It turns out, that car is scheduled for delivery to the dealer in the 2nd week of march. So, it now has my name on it. What am I paying for it? Invoice. Not 500 over, not 400 over, but straight invoice.

Now you're probably asking why and that's because the 2 dealers know eachother. In fact, they used to work at the same dealership! It just so happenned that the dealer I'm buying from and 4 others left the dealership I walked away from because they did not like the way they dealt business and they thought the new sales manager was kinda off. So they left and went to the other side of town (Hurst) and that's where I found them and that's where I'll be getting my car.

I've got to wait a few more weeks, but it's worth it to know that the car is NEW and the price is right. It's a little bit longer of a drive, but I don't mind. I didn't even have to haggle. He said he'd do 500 over invoice and gave me the same offer on my car assuming i dont put 5000 miles on it.

The story only gets better from there though. On my way out to the second dealer, the first dealer called my cell phone twice. The first time it was the sales manager telling me that they just found out they had a brand new RX-8 just like I wanted coming in in 2 days. The second was the dealer himself calling me to tell me exactly the same thing. SO, if they had this car coming in, why did they go thru all that work to get a car from another dealership for me and then NOT tell me it had 600 miles on it when they could get a new one just like that? You figure that one out. I think it's pretty obvious.

So I get to wait. It won't be too bad and at least I know who drove the first 600 miles on my car. Me.
