How have you been starting your car since August, when you first posted about this?

As far as what to get... Just go someplace competent that has a full line of batteries and ask for their best one. (Sears is good. Merchant's is not. Wal-Mart is DIY. ) They'll look your car up and get the right size. One thing to watch out for is that the battery isn't physically bigger than the OE battery. It's in an enclosure, and you need to maintain the ventillation air space around it.

Yes, its been a while but like I said I am a LMF and take my time doing things

Ken This is not my DD, it is just a hobby car. Also I do not have a normal job, well no job at all so do not need a DD. I do have a bike and a 4 banger that I use.
If I drive more than 20 miles per week, that is a lot. ( going ou to Fry's flea markets, etc. 6 Grocery stores are within 4 mile range. Normal mileage per week that I drive is about 8 miles. Remember I have 3 rides so miles per week is so little among the 3. When I drive it, I drive it. Texas to the dragon, ie NC, about 2k miles.
South Texas to Kerrville, about 900 miles( for the Texas 8 run, South Texas to Austin for the Leaky run about 1000 miles.

When I decode to drive it and it will not start (happened twice since August 08)
I just give the battery a slow overnight charge with my bike charger, ie trickle charge.

Last time I had to get someone to give me a boost ...when I was out at a local flea market.
Battery seems to hold a charge....for a while..but since I do not drive it much, the battery does go dead. Since August, I only had to charge the battery twice.
I know it is going that is why I am starting to look for a new one. Guess by summer or dragon time I will buy a new one.

What I meant is this. What is the most powerful battery I can put in there. I do not want the 26 R

I did not think about the air space around it, I figured I would go with the largest most powerful battery that would fit in there..
Well what if I make some air holes in that enclosure?
I want the most cold cranking amps I can get.

Last time I went to the parts store they wanted to sell me what the "book" said, for my MX-3
I ended going to Target and getting a much more powerful battery. The MX3 s does not have a enclosure for the battery so it was not a problem going a bit larger battery. I had to modify the tie down bars to hold it. I did not want the battery to be flying all over the place.

Guess I have to quit being a LMF for a day and go do some measuring of that enclosure and then a trip to some battery stores. Target, wally world, etc

I always try to go with the largest one.
Same with tires.
Car came with 18's and I put in 19s. 275x45x19 in rear, 245x45x19 in front
If I had asked at the tire store for tires, they would have sold me 245x35x18s

If you go larger then you will block the ram air tube. Air from outside comes into batt. box to keep battery cool. If you look you will see it.

You don't necessarily need a powerful battery. You need to keep whatever is in there charged. I've got the same problem with my '87 Accord, which I kept as a beater when I got the RX-8. A decent quality battery that was only a couple of years old died in little over a year of once a month driving. After replacing it, I make sure that I drive the Accord regularly. It lives out on the street, so I can't keep it on trickle charge. Real nuisance when I let it run down - need to jump it, then move it into the garage or driveway in reach of an outlet for an overnight charge. And if I let it run down too often, I'll be out another $45 for another new battery. (Advance Auto bargain brand.)

If you go to finishlineperformance.com and look for the RX-8 service bulletins, there's one on battery replacement that describes the clearance and air flow deal. But, like I said, you don't really need a bigger battery. You just need to maintain whatever you have in it. As a fellow LMF, you have my sympathy.
