I think he was talking about all the extras the 8 has by being 11 years newer.

Nah. It's our logo. Our logo is so much cooler. YAY italics!

No luck with pics at the moment (pic size too big).
You have a GT35R and aren't even putting down 400whp? In fact you don't even know for sure what you're putting down? My car should be putting down 900whp once I get my new turbo kit

well If I were to have things my way I'd put the 13BREW-TT in an RX-8 that would be the best of all worlds... could have a solid reliable 300whp and room n luxury for 4. I know a handful of peeps have done it, just waiting for one to be for sale at a reasonable price.

^ mind as well put a 13b-RE in it instead of a 13 BREW... and i wouldnt keep the stock twin turbo units... hell i rather swap a LS1 in... or a 20B if i had the money for a 20B.

ya a combo motor would actually be better.... REW irons, RE housings, RE turbos, or even BNR twins. I wouldn't go for crazy hp so much as linearity and driveability. With proper stage tuning you can get some sick tq downlow on twins. LS would be great I love seeing LS swaps, not sure how well it'd fit in the RX8, but don't doubt its possible. I bet Hinson could git'r done.

What part do you not understand? I have a solid foundation with the GT35R to easily build an RX7 that is capable of an easy 500+ whp. My car at the moment is putting down somewhere around 400 whp with a very rough tune. I will improve the 400 whp number significantly once I have a better tune ( and can take it into A-spec). I doubt that your "scoobie" will be making 900 whp by adding a new turbo kit. How much are you going to have to spend on the internals of the motor in order for it to handle 900 whp?

I am considering an RX8 as a daily driver once I drive my MX6 into the ground. So I really don't consider which is better (RX7 or RX8), to me they serve two completely different purposes. You might be the one to chill out in that I think you are reading more into things than you should. If there are RX7 owners that think they are better than RX8 owners then I think that they are just idiots.

Just got back from the Rotary Meet in Frisco - Lots of nice folks 3s, 6s, 7s, and 8s. Kinda hard to wave on the overspeeded over crowded Freeways but got some nice waves anyhow - and once there it was rotar heaven with everybody looking at everything - What amazed me the most was if even the older cars were on the street they would look like something new and modern and some of these babies were 30 years out of date - instead I am seeing Corvetts and Alphas looking like bad copies of these originals. They were even kind to Mom who had her 94 year old head under their hoods and was trying to find out if the home built coolers were any good - Now you get something going where you can take kids and old ladies and still have the flash of drifters and modifications you got something worth having! I am just sorry you ran into some creeps - I just hope you can find some decent owners in your area!

I think you mostly missed my point. I have hung with a few 7 owners and most of them are really cool. I noticed that some of the 8 owners snub me too... maybe it's me and not the rotary enthusiasts. I was pretty much making a joke of it and didn't expect anyone to take me seriously. You kinda jumped on me a bit so I decided to play around (plus you should've looked closer at my avatar... ). That kitties guarding the chronic. I think it's great that you have a highly modified 3rd gen 7 and I've considered working on one (with lots of help of course) for myself as a project car when I grow up. For now the goal is to get my 8 to around 260 whp and then maybe 330 whp if I can get there without too much expense or damage to my warranty. I always wanted a 3rd gen when they were new but I was a starving college student back in those days. That's where the MR2 came in. I picked it up for $16k and could afford to start the work I eventually topped out. I think the car was capable of more but I already couldn't let ANYONE else drive it without the risk of finding it wrapped around a street light somewhere.

You high horse power guys - what are you using as a transmission and what is your ratio of rotations to wheel turns when you release that power - Are you doing streight line racing or hills or what???

you dont need to upgrade your tranny internals in the FD unless youre running some insane power like 700hp to the wheels... its not only the tranny... its the whole damn drivetrain you gotta upgrade. it doesnt matter when it comes to 7's. even though its built for the road courses it can be a good 1/4 runner too.

Just thought it was silly to talk about what your car was capable of... Since you were talking in hypotheticals I thought I would as well A "very rough tune" and a FD sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I drive an Evo by the way.

mmmmkay? lol. but yes a rough tuned fd is a downhill to disaster. but he still needs to tuned it. as you probably know rx7s usually sit more than being driven so he can have time for further tuning. ou cant expect it to run perfect after some minor tuning the first time.

I know the RX-8 isn't an RX-7 but what the heck?!?!

This makes the second time I've been snubbed by a last gen RX-7 owner.

Most FD owners I know are cool and big rotary fans and always happy to see another rotary powered car and its owner.

So far every 7 owner I've met has been cool. One of them even owned an 8 for a while. I think some of them don't appriciate 8 owners yet because we still have those nice warrenties and a bunch of owners don't really have the same love for the rotary. I specifically sought out a rotary car. I was even going to buy an FD, but I couldn't get the bank to finance over the bluebook price to meet his asking price. After I put the money together, I really wanted a warrenty to protect my investment for a few years, so I settled on the 8. After talking to the 7 people and they see you do have the love for the rotary usually they'll treat you like one of the family.

well if more 8 owners would race em we wouldn't be so jealous.... if I had an 8 I'd sure as heck race it and be more involved with rotary stuff. I've been snubbed by plenty of RX8 owners so I think its fair to say ya'll snub as much as anybody.

For some reason I thought you drove a "scoobie", hmmm

As far as hypotheticals, I know that there are cars that are set up like mine that are easily running over 500 whp. A rough tune in my FD will not be a recipe for disaster as I am very careful with my car and won't do anything stupid with it. I only intend to run 15 psi max as my car is set up for road courses and not the quarter mile.

To get 900 HP with your EVO, are you going to take it to AMS Performance?
