Question snow?

hey guys, im looking to buy my first car and my parents want me to buy american...well i am not likin any of the american cars so i decided to use the mazda loop-hole. since mazzda is owned by ford and my aunt and uncle work for ford....my parents likey the idea. i was looking at the rx8 6speed and i was wondering....how bad is it in the snow? its light and rwd so im assuming it isnt too great.

btw i dont mean 1/2 inch snow...i live in michigan so we may get no snow one year and 7 inches in a night the next....im not looking to be driving in the snow all the time. i can always take one of my parents cars to go snowboarding, but i need something i can drive to work in when it snows...so any input on snow driving you guys can give me and what i could do to help it out in the snow would be appreciated.

With snow tires and traction control the car is safe but don't expect to drive over that snowplow hump at the end of the driveway.
With traction control off the fun begins! Rear drive in snow can be a lot of fun! And I mean that in a good way.

for the love of God DO A SEARCH!!!!

There are a gazillion threads on "SNOW" and you have just made it a gazillion and one.
Go to the wheels and tires section and have fun reading endless threads on if 'the 8 is good in the snow'.

The stock tires are for summer use ONLY. As long as you can get a good set of snow tires (and if you can get a car with the DSC system), you'll be more than fine. I've driven through snow that was deep enough to hit the undertray, and did just fine. Once you get moving, it's not bad at all.

If you are driving in heavy snow, you will want DSC.
