Side Areo Flares
Any one having problems with there side areo flares not sticking close to body at the front?
Mine seem to want to pull away from the bottom which leaves a 1/8 - 1/4 inch gap. I going to take back to dealer, but just wondering if anyone else have this problem and what was done to correct it.

dsaint - Your dealer can order them, they are called side strakes, also, Rosenthal Mazda (banner is on this site) seems to be a bit cheaper than the normal dealers.

Also I have a very good relationship with the guys in service and in parts, started that with my MSP. I must say in the 20 years I have been buying cars and trucks, this dealer (Valley Auto World) has been the best.

no no i am sorry i had the wron gname for the part. I stil don't know what they are called but they are the two silver 3-4 inch lines right behind the front tire on teh black grille. I have seen a few cars with those on where do i find those. The two silver pieces over the black honey comb.

dsaint, don't hijack this thread about the side strakes...stay on topic!
They are called side AERO FLARES (like the name of this thread)...the side STRAKES are the overpriced silver pieces of metal for the side vents behind the wheel well.
Also, I too have the gap at the front of mine as well, but it shows no signs of getting any larger, and that's after a brutal winter with plenty of dirt and snow getting on them.

I know i've had an act for raising the dead lately, but I don't feel like starting a new thread for this...
Anyone figured a good way to close this gap up? On the passenger side I installed tonight, I have a slight gap as well, but still enough to annoy me.
Anyone ever considered super glue or some equivalent behind the paint (concealed), or would that eat at paint? I'm really trying to figure a good way to do this that will look slick.
Ideas?

I installed mine last night... I didnt have all of the rivets, so What I did was....
had at least the one rivet in the front, one rivet in the back, locked it into the 2 lower locks, used 3M tape on the 2 middle rivet slots, then finally a screw with nutt for the back by the wheel.
No lifting at all!
I thought there would be a lot of lifting and stuff, but it ended up coming out 100% solid.
make sure that if your getting lift on the front that it has the front rivet and that its locked into the body.

I really was NOT a fan with the meathod they use to determine where you drill friggin 3/8" HOLES in the side of your car...that being a flimsy peice of paper that you have to ASSUME doesn't move in the process of mounting the flare. I see where they get the idea, but WOW...couldn't there have been a less "pin the tail on the donkey" meathod?
To be honest, my hole in the front will likely be HARDER to close then those without holes, because primarily of the fact that now it is anchored the the side, making movement of any part of it VERY stiff. Still, i might try some of that silicone or maybe just take it by our top body shop and pay them a lil to close the gap by any means they have.
Thanx for the reply, and good job on your install romeo. I do have the front rivit in, and for whatever reason, i'm not sure if it's staying in It's very odd to me too...

the skirt on my passenger side has a SLIGHT miss drill on the far right also.
I wonder if Mazda has a miss printed template or something...

I'm not completely sure if it's the rivit popping out or if it's just the adhesive releasing, but when i press it in and hold it, then let it out, it makes a somewhat "poppy" type of sound. Trust me...it annoys the crap outta me.
