Showing 8 For First Time... Any Tips?

Something to do for the weekend, entering a local car show (nothing big)...

Just looking for any tips from the more experienced... I know the obvious.. I will clean the hell out of every inch (trunk, int, engine bay) I can...

I hear that putting vaseline on the teeth helps.

Make sure you check area around the gas cap, after washing outside, open the back doors dusts gets in around them, water spots can appear on the black covers after you wash - A good tire dressing helps. A pumice stick, can help remove rust along break rims, or use a good metal polish. Too much Armorall on the front dash can form a vapor that gets on the inside of the windows, Watch for waterspots, vinegar can help, If you use Ice make sure car is dry before application and polish well as it is a dust magnet and the dust will show hand swipes - bring a last minute touch up kit with you so you can get that spot off, or dust or whatever

Good luck!

If u plan to open up the hood, prop it up with the engine cover. IMO it's the best "happy medium" to see inside the hood but still be able to c how the hood flows w/ the car. GL!

Yea, I'll be using ICE.

Unfortunatly I don't have the engine cover, it's still at the place where my engine work was done.

Any tips on cleaning the exhaust from the carbon??

I use dishwashing liquid for the exhaust tips. It works better then anything else I have tried.

Put togeather a one page sheet that tells people what it is and what mods you have and put that in a simple frame. Most car shows I go to people are confused when they look at the engine and the sheet helps. It also keeps people around you car more which draws even more people. Also get some never dull and make sure the exhaust tips are clean inside and outside.

^^^ Yes!

Something I NEVER see anyone do, but would LOVE done..

Pull each wheel, and CLEAN THE INNER PART OF THE RIM!

It totally kills the look of a car to have the inner part of the rim all dirty.

Just make sure to bring some kind of wheel/tire cleaner and a towel or two with you, brake dust will accumulate (even just a little kills the "clean" look) on the ride there.

Also some kind of dry car cleaner..some grime is certain to form on the ride there.

I drew a picture epxlaining the rotary engine. And I lay it on my rear hatch under the wiper at Mazdameets (not exactly car shows). You could do that with the trunk or print the spec sheet with a side view of a housing and rotor for extra pizaz.

i use just the rotor and kel uses the display which has the housing too.....if your serious about showing it then you may wanna invest with some gadgets too that give attention to the car.....i usually put my small RC 8 inside the rotor....

Yeah, I took a (good x.x) rotor and sanded/painted it to look all nice. Have a housing too, just looks bad. xD. It's great for attention, and if your comfortable with explaining how it works to LOTS of people, absolutely use it. I display it in my trunk, normally.

how are they classing it? the show i was in my class was won by Ford GT's...a lil biased maybe? Don't put the tire dressing on until you get there. Also make sure to vacuum everything including the trunk.
