I have never had a problem with Mazda Dealers being able support its vehicles. I have owned a Miata and a RX-8. Great service from my experience.

I know not everyone has had my luck but I also know a few BWM owners who have had a hard time with their dealers.

EDIT: OH yeah if you want to know about the RX go drive it. Then you will know what you should do!

Dealers are hit and miss as far as service goes. Hopefully you'll be able to find out from current customers in your area.

Here in El Paso the dealer we have for Mazda is also the BMW dealer.. I can't speak for service on BMWs but the service department for Mazda is great... now that they fired one guy who actually told me, "it is normal for new cars to pull to the right, you are wasting your time having us check the alignment on your 1 week old car." Yeah, he got fired...

I agree with RX-A-Ho.. Drive an 8 and then you will know what is right for you.

Good luck!

at least you are thinking of a color upgrade, that green does not do any wonders for that car.

From a problem standpoint the BMW is more likely to give you trouble base on consumer report's data. BMW has turned into a bottom feeder for reliability, as a company they are one of the worst compared to all other car companies.

As for service I agree with Ryan13b, my experience has sucked and Mazda is unable or unwilling to address the fuel consumption problem with some RX-8s. I have also heard of other issues, which cast a dim view of Mazda’s client service in general.

Yeah, I have had good service with my Mazda dealer here, but only OK service with the BMW where I am. it's really hit & miss with dealerships/service departments.
