finally decided to bite the bullet and sell my 99 MX-5 and buy an RX8. found an 05 with 8000 miles. It is a black GT, loaded, with NAV. for $24,400 with certified Mazda extended warrantly. It will be a daily driver and 12 times a year autocross in BS. (I know, I should opt for lighter base model) Question is...It has two different sets of tires. one kind on the rear and one on the front. should this worry me? why would two tires wear out after 8000 miles? and why didn't this guy stay with the same brand? totally different tread patterns. Is this something I should be conserned with??

i wouldn't sweat it, especially if you're gonna autox it in which case you'll buy new tires for it.

try doing some searching.... I bought my 05 Rx8 for $24k with 300 miles on it (new) back in March of 2006.
Maybe if you wait a little bit, you can search for an 06 for around $24 - $26 and it could be new. It's hard to find, but probably worth it...

Yes, thats strange. Tires dont normally wear out after 8k miles. Maybe the car was involved in a curb mishap, destroying two rims. If you are really interested in the car, get a Car Fax report on it. Good luck.
