Should have gotten an 07

Car manual says that you can't use any type of electrical equipment in the lighter, and I have proven this by spending 1 hour at Hastings buying 2 different ones that didn't get any power from the socket, then I bought a battery powered one and sat i t in the back seat to get it as close to the antenna as possible and it was still really stacicy.

/sigh I'll never be able to use my iPod in my car =(

Just wire it directly into the wires behind the lighter.

I routinely run my DC tire pump from the lighter socket, no issues.

Where is the 2nd one located? I have a little filled in part in my dash to the left of my glove box where I think one would go, but the only one I've seen is the one next to the ashtray.

Is there something I need to do so it will work? I tried using the cigarette lighter and it warmed it up just fine, but whenever I plugged in either of my FM transmitters I got nothing...

Anyone else had a problem like this? I guess if everyone elses works and mine doesn't it'll be time for another stealership visit..

Yes, you caught me, I am kidding...No. I'm not.

And yes that's pretty much all I do. Unless the second one was located under the pile of paper work and car manual that I left in the glove box or directly in the cup holder, I'd have no idea where it is because those are the only two comparments I've ever opened.

The second one is located in your center console (that black storage bin between your two front seats).

Thanks for the info dems, went on my break and found it =)

Also, props for not treating me like the typical rx8-clubineer would. <3

Sidenote, I'm going to hastings after I get off at 8 to pick up the one I had already opened to try it again. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I suppose if that one doesn't work I'm just going to go up to the Mazda dealership again...Uggghghghghghgh. The horror. I'm already getting shivers.

I have an '07 and can use any accessory in either outlet.

The only problem would be if the accessory in quesion drew more current than the capacity of the fuse on that circuit. I can't imagine anything drawing more current than a cigarette lighter, though...

If the lighter socket is dead, check for a blown fuse.

The issue might not be the cigarette/power outlet in the car, but the shape of accessory plug that you're using. I've had this happen where the accessory plug did not make full contact with the tip/edges of the accessory outlet in the car and thus no power. Try different power accessories in your RX8 to see if that cigarette outlet is getting power. You might want to try your device in other vehicles to see if it works also.

That could be the problem. The device seemed unusually large to me. I use to have a car charger for my cell phone when I had my camaro, and that thing was half the size the FM tuners are. Who knows. I'm just going to swing by and try it in the other socket since the box is already opened. If not oh well. I'll just be burning CD's for the rest of my cars life.

Yet another smart *** comment about something that doesn't have anything to do with my problem. Thank you SO much for your help in all of this. Do you ever go over your posts and wonder why you post them? Because it obviously isn't to help someone or give them any information on the problem they're having. Thank you for your contributions though. I'd be much appreciative if you just kept them to yourself until you have something of value to contribute.

To answer your statement thoooough:

I don't really know much about cars in general so as far as changing the oil myself, then no I don't know how to. When to change it, Yes. Dealership told me when. As far the type, yes. I do. If you're asking that just because you don't know yourself, here's a hint, it's printed in the manual and on the oil cap itself. Good luck.

thats HILARIOUS coming from the guy who didnt even know he had more than one power outlet.... I mentioned the oil because you didnt even know you had an outlet in your compartments, how can you not take the time to look around in your car when you first buy it?

secondly dirtbag, you are suppose to check your oil every fill up or month
(i check monthly) im not talking about an oil change noob, you have to ADD 5w20 NON synthetic or say bye bye to your apex seals....does that answer your question of me not know and looking in the manual? My bad, you probably dont even know what apex seals are.

heres a hint, you drive a rotary engine car..learn how to take care of it or it will stab you in the back.

Im not gonna lie, you are the stupidest person ive come across on this forum. Dont try and flame me when you dont even know the interior of your car.

Well I would coment about the Synthetic Oil, but Rems already beat me to it.

As for me not knowing about my 2nd Outlet, Oh lordy I've sinned. Please forgive me. I knew that there was an extra compartment there, sorry I don't keep clutter or any type of junk in my car to make use of it though. I like to have a clean car, something, it looks just like it's came off the lot and I'd like to keep it like that. If I ever found an important use for it I would have stumbled across the outlet. Not really a problem with me not having the time to look around, just not the need to inspect every inch of the car.

And I check my oil every other fill up, which is once a month for me. So I'm fine on that. And FYI I use the little oil compartment thing in the trunk (The dealership told me that's what it's there for). I always keep a quart of 5W-20 there. Valvoline ftw? And you've got me on the Apex seal, don't know what it is and honestly as long as I'm taking good care of my car (which I do) I really couldn't care less what it is either. Maybe I'll "find the time" to go over it later if I'm curious about my cars engine.

And I know all about needing to know how to maintain the car or else it will stab you in the back. There's a reason I'm a member of this forum and used the search button and asked questions when I got the car. I'm sorry about not a huge car fanatic to know every inch about the car and how it runs and works. But I did do enough research to make sure I keep in tip-top shape.

I'm not gonna lie, you're probably the biggest jerk I've come across on this forum. Don't bother flaming me beause all you are is another name that I'll scroll by when reading the forum.

If you can't add anything valid to help me out other than just try to take a jab at me for honestly no reason since I never provoked you to do so, then please just don't post.

Yes because people never do anything to their cars that might void their warranty

By the way, you probably meant how to check my oil in your post, but you definitely wrote change and still haven't edited either of the posts to show which one you're talking about. So I don't know what you're trying to say. Were you trying to say I don't know how to check it or change it? Maybe both and you're just that dumb?

You missed my point, at least if your warranty gets voided for having a turbo you can still enjoy the turbo and get your oil change some place else. In your case, having no mods, getting your warranty voided for just for using syn oil wouldnt be to fun or enjoyable.

Im not here to argue old man, i just find it to be stupid that a person doesn't inspect a car before putting down 20k+ to buy it...hey im not advising you on how to spend your money, but thats just stupid. I would feel embarrassed to say "oh, you mean there is an outlet in this compartment right under my right arm?!?!?" Especially after owning the car for over ...lets say... 2 months.(ur a 2k6'er so im assuming you've owned it for over 2 months)

And yes, you got me on the oil part. what i meant to say was check/add instead of change. I dont care to edit my posts because i have no need to feel stupid in front of any of these members. The odds of one of us ever meeting in person are slim, so why should i care if have a typo? Nor do i care if im "just another name you'll scroll by".

you called me a jerk! I think ill go cut myself and cry in a corner.

im done arguing, pce ghost rider.
