i just recemtly bought an octane booster which states to restore and improve hp.it also says it protects against deposit buildup.
i also bought a fuel system cleaner which states that it cleans injectors/carburetors/valves/fuel tank and fuel system components.this one also says it restores lost power.
there both produced by nos
my friend used it on his 8 and said it works magic
any one used on their 8?
any advice?

"Never add fuel system additives. Never add cleaning agents other than those specified by Mazda. Other cleaning agents and additives may damage the system."

Just buy better gas - Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate, Mobil Premium ... don't screw around with unproven crap.
Car & Driver did a test of some "108+ Octane Boost" awhile back, adding the recommended one bottle per 10 gallons of gas and found that it boosted a 10 gallons of 87 Octane regular all the way up to (are you ready folks? Hang on to your hats!) ....

Now that **** made a difference!

What's BP ultimate? Is that a regional brand?
BP = British Petroleum; they have the stations with the green shield logo, and the yellow letters "BP". Their presence is moreso in Europe than in North America, but I understand that there is the odd station here and there. Not sure about West Coast availability.
fuel additives can be very caustic on plastic i.e. fuel pump, etc... I don't recommend using. and if you do add with FULL tank to delute it down. I recommend getting a fuel injection cleaner kit where you can add it into the engine via a vacuum line (brake booster, etc)
Av-Gas is NOT designed for automotove use. It does not absorb as much heat as it atomizes and this rotary thing essentially being a two stroke, will die. automotove engines use fuel for cooling. I have seen 110 LL (ll = Low lead) but I have only recently started to see unleaded aviation fuel. Where did you find Unleaded more than a couple years ago?
For the most power, you want to run the lowest octane you can get away with.
Higher octane = slower burn= fuel not burned=fuel not creating heat=heat not creating power.
2 points of octane can make all the difference when you are stuck in bum **** montana with 85 octane at the pump and a hundered miles until the next gas station.

Which Mazda? I work as a service advisior at a Mazda dealership and know that from dealership to dealership things/products are different. Like our dealership we push the BG Product line. Others may use something else sold in there area. If you search you'll find fuel additives are used by ALOT of us here.
Another point being. Theres different additives in the fuel you buy. Why does'nt Mazda recommend using only one brand of gas?

Personally, I think the reason additives that come premixed at the pump are "less harmful" to engines is that they are in lower concentrations then they are when you buy them from autozone. At the right ratio, additives are mostly if not totally harmless, but when some idiot pours 3 bottles of injector cleaner into a 8th of a tank of gas "to make it work better"; Then the additives blows up the engine. The whole "Don't use additives" is just so Mazda can cover their *** against such idiots.
