I take mine in per the little stickie in the window. Every 3000 miles. They've done it every time.

Tell them to go back to school and do their math...7500 X 2 = 15000! That puts you back on the right schedule. If they had to eat one of the 5K services that is their issue for not knowing what MNA is going to reimburse them for.

Sounds to me like the local dealer is just trying to blow you off. Contact Mazda and see what they have to say about this and be sure the service manager knows you intend to do so.

I just called up MNAO today and talked with customer support. Of course she agreed with what you all said here. So now, when I go back in on Wednesday, if they still won't agree to service my car and they disregard the warranty notice I can tell them to call Rosa at Mazda and see what she has to say about it. I'll let you know what happens on Wednesday.

Just reading this thread makes me realize even more how pathetic MAzda is when it comes to AFTER the sale......
Um, reading that comment makes me realize you haven't read or understood this thread. The problem is with one particular dealer, not with Mazda.

If you write off every manufacturer who has a bad dealer, you'd better be prepared to build your own car! :D

the only problem i have had was that i was only goign by miles and not months or miles whichever comes first. so when i went in for my 10k service the paper comes up "12month/15k service sched 1". and i was confused at first. i said hey im here for the 10k and im on schedule 2. but he explained it and i felt kinda foolish. because really if i had been following 2 then i was behind by a service. i was there for my second and should have been getting my 3rd. i told them i just didnt want any hassle from Mazda thinking i was schedule swapping to get extra oil changes. we checked and everyhtings cool.

moral of the story- dont get fixated on the miles. watch the months OR miles whichever comes first.

Very good point. Another way to look at it, you should be getting at least 3 free services every 12 months or possibly more if you drive a lot.

I had a problem with my dealer as well the first time I brought the car in. I agrued for a few minutes, told myself it wasn't worth the frustration, then sent an e-mail out to Mazda USA and they responded with a nice letter that I could take to the dealer and politely tell him to shove is opinion back up his ----...

BTW - I've been extremely **** since then and am getting an oil change every 4 months (since I don't get 5k miles in 4 months) as per schedule 2

Well... I got my oil changed. For Free!
Thanks everyone again. I am also being taken more seriously on my other issues too now.

Update on this... I just spoke to Tim at Mazda Corporate about this issue.

He said that if your dealer accepts you under the 5000 mile service (ie, Schedule 2 and you have service every 5000 miles), then they HAVE to honor that for the life of your service contract. The dealer cannot change the schedule to their liking in the middle of the contract.

Fortunately for me, Tim is calling my dealer and giving them the lowdown on how it works, and I won't (hopefully) have any problems any more. I just wanted to let you know that this is the word from MNAO, so tell your dealers, else call MNAO and have them call the dealer for you.

Good luck to everybody on this, I will let you know how it turns out for me!

my salesman gave me a coupon for a free oil change even after i told him i was going to do it myself. it's hard for me to get the time to leave it anywhere because i sell motorcycles on saturdays and my dealer is 25 miles away from my monday thru friday job. i might take it in there after i change the oil myself for the first time.

i'll change oil at 600 miles again at 1000 and then every 3k. this is how i do my bikes too.

The only push-back I ever got using my "FREE Factory-Scheduled Maintenance" card was when I requested the recommended 7,500 mile tire rotation. Unfortunately this is not listed in Schedule 1/2 but in the Owner's manual verbiage on tire care. Ultimately they didn't even charge me for that.

BTW, I use Schedule 2 on a 4 month basis because my mileage is low. I qualify for schedule 2 because almost all of my driving is short trips around town (see the description at the top of the schedule).

WARNING! When requesting any kind of service from the schedule, ALWAYS ask them to list exactly what they are planning to do. I have found that what the dealer believes a 12 month service is and what the book says is often different.

This is true, tire rotation is not listed anywhere as part of the free service agreement. So if the dealer wants to be hard nozed they are actually in the right.

ha... I had the opposite affect. When I got them to do the maintenance they insisted on rotating the tires. Even when I told them I had just done it at 10k. So I let them.

On another note, I have now had a rental for over a week. I went into the dealership with 6 issues. Oil change, check engine light, brake tsb, navigation malfunction, a car cover exchange, and a broken tire kit box.

I called them today and asked how the car was progressing. I was told that the car had just about finished and i was about to get a call. (how convenient) When I asked what got done to it, I was told the oil change, and tire rotation. They said they can't get the new brakes yet and the new nav is on back order as is the car cover and tire kit box. She also said my car was not giving any pcm codes. I hope when I go in tomorrow that it took them over a week to do a damn oil change.
