It's just that there seem to be pre-mixers here who have gone through one or more engines regardless. They might have all failed (worn out) for other reasons of course though. I dunno, it's frustrating, with all the data we have in 8+ years here I've never found a consistent solution to the Series I loss of compression problem. There's always an exception to every supposed cure.

pre mixing does help, race engines don't even run the OMP (MOP)

I premix my FD, usually 8oz per 16-18 gallons fillup (20gal tank) which works out to about 1/2oz per gal and I still run the OMP with a slighlty increased injector curve in the PowerFC

I've always loved the RX-8, I'm in the group of people that are amazed at the level of power from the Renesis and sad that it was always compared to the 3rd gen RX-7 when in reality it should have been compared to the 1st and 2nd gens. The last Naturally Aspirated 13B made 160hp!

I will buy an R3 one day when prices come down and I plan to premix it.

Not quite correct. Race engines from the peripheral port 13b engines might not, but side port 13b race engine sure do. Our side seal problem is worse than the peripheral port side seals because of how close our exhaust ports are to them, and it was race engines that identified how EGTs are directly linked to how long a side seal spring will last AND how effective the OMP injection is in cooling the side seals down.

Running a Renesis without the OMP in a race is begging for an engine failure.

I have an 06 and have premixed since about 600 miles and around the same time the last ecu recall upgrade came out. I only have 32K on it so have no clue how long it will last. I did not like the upgrade to the newer ones visually.

I bought a 2010 aus spec GT (similar to us R3)
I think the later cars look better and it would seem cars 2010-11 particularly seem to be less rattly and somehow tighter (even on comparativly high milage cars)
My car has about 35k miles onit
Also re premixing i think its likely to help side seals more than apex seals
The sideseals are under much more pressure in a renesis than a peripherally exhaust ported engine (my assumption rather than experiance)
Also not too sure re gearboxes the one in my car does not feel super strong

My opinion is that your post doesnt belong in this thread.
You should read the new and potential owners sticky found at the top of the new members forum.

It's the few users like you who have made me stay all of these years. I just don't post much.

Previous owner and history would be my priority over generation.

Search is your friend btw, other members will (rightfully) grill you out for necro'ing threads with searchable questions. When in doubt post in the dumb question thread.

Thanks Steve for both your advice and for answering my question. I'm sure I'll be utilizing the dumb question thread. I don't think RX7club had that. It definitely would have come in handy.
