Saying Hello To All!

Hey guys n girls!

My name's Alan from North London and just wanted to say 'hi' and introduce myself.

Taking delivery of a '05 Brilliant Black 192bhp RX-8 tomorrow (can't wait!) Fully loaded with leather interior (except Sat Nav)

One question please, guys. When i went to test-drive the car over the weekend, i noticed upon checking, a mayo, white deposit on the end of the oil dip stick which i was a bit concerned about. This was from cold. After going for a drive and re-checking, the same white deposit was still there??? Checked another 8 at the garage and there was this same deposit. Has anyone else had this when checking their oil? Have today been told by my Mazda dealer today that a manifold mod is being done to sort the problem out anyway.

Any comments, guys?

Thanks.

Alan.

If so it's nothing to worry about.

Hello and Welcome .....

What you have is moisture buildup in your oil. A few of the guys have had that issue before . Nothing to worry about. Once you start driving it , it'll go away.

Redline = engine rev (RPM) to 9k (redline). Not hard to do in this car ...welcome.

On the tach, you can see the solid red "line" above the number, which means "Being in this range is bad for the engine for periods of time." Reving the engine while driving up to that RPM for a split second is good for the engine, as it helps it keep her clean of deadly carbon.

^Actually, revving to redline for a split second does nothing for carbon.

What about a split second for 2 or 3 different gears every time you cycle through the gear box everytime you drive?

If it is a white frothy stuff you see on the dip stick, I see that too. It happened when I had it sit in the garage while we had snow and I would start it occasionaly and just let it idle. It went away when I got it out and drove it. Nothing to worry about.

So what is the english slang for "redlining" then? Also does bhp mean break horse power or base horse power?

Congrats on the new car too.
