Saw a Yellow Rx-8 in a NY lot

Well, they're here! I saw one sitting out front in the lot of Smithtown Mazda that they just got today. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! The guy let me sit in it and start it up (he couldn't let me drive it though), and it sounds awesome.

Now I Just have to figure out a way to pay for the one I put a deposit on....

Ha, I don't know if your even going to read this response but its the last week in May and we just sold that Rx-8. It was actually the first one we ever got in stock. If you need anything from Mazda of Smithtown don't be afraid to message or email me (paintballplaya48@aol.com). Take care

Wow, you had that one sitting for nearly 11 months. I bet the buyer got a great deal. I guess yellow is one of those love it or hate it colors. But now that it seems that yellow will be no more for '05, all the yellow lovers are snatching them up.

Doubt it Hachi, much like the yellow MY03 WRX the yellow RX-8s will be sitting on the lots far longer than any other color even though it's being discontinued. There's a reason it's being discontinued, not that many people want them.

If it was solely based on sales, the nordic green would be the first to go . mazda fully expected to kill the yellow after one year.IMO. which has in turn made the yellow a hot color at this time. the last new members on here seem to be purchasing yellow now , myself includied.my dealer has only recieved 3 yellows since its been out and now the closet left to me ( for sale)is 100 miles away. i love having the rarest color.

I agree, there's very high ratio of new yellow owners on this board. I was waiting for an '05 myself, but with yellow possibly gone, got one now.

I don't fully agree with IkeWRX. While it's true that yellow is not everyone's favorite, there are certain cars that do look good in yellow. But they must be sports cars; Honda S2000 & NSX, BMW M3, Porsche and Ferrari all used yellow as a signiture color at one time or another. But sedans, even a WRX STi or an EVO VIII, are too big to look good in yellow. Having said that, I do love the EVO in yellow.

Funny you should mention the EVO in yellow. Our partner dealership, being Mitsu, had a yellow EVO for about 6 months before another dealership swaped it with us. Yellows a very hard color to sell. I love it myself but I get pulled over enough in winning blue. Hey and here's something that I just found out. New color for 05'. Pearl White.

I have to be the only idiot in the world who pre-ordered lightning Yellow.

The funny thing is that my dealer really went out of their way to stock that color, and I agree that Mazda was only ever planning one year of the color because if they were planning a longer run, then there would have been a custom interior for the color. All you could get with yellow was the plain black. No it was planned obsolescence.

I don't know if a lot of other people feel this way but the only car I would ever own in yellow is a supercar of some type, in particular a Ferrari since red is so played out when it comes to those :p I've seen some very nice looking WRXs in yellow, and well as other cars, but I just would never want to own one. The only color for the S2k is the dark gray with the red interior :D

my roomate always tell me the reason why people buy yellow cars is because they are cheaper. I'm not questioning if someone could or couldn't afford it but whether it is true or not that yellow is less expensive than other colors.
i was personally never in to yellow cars but the yellow for the 8 a lot nicer than the yellows i've seen on s2000's or even slk's. some people can get away with it and some people can't. i did prefer white in the beginning but no regrets here... until probably when i see a white one flying around

I think some of it has to do with the car cultures in different parts of the US (or world). Areas that are car crazy and into supercar exotics, high-end luxury & sports cars, and/or the import tuner scene (e.g. certain parts of California, Florida, and Hawaii), will have an easier time selling yellow. In other parts of the country that maybe more on the conservative side, yellow is a hard sell.

Yellow and black... nice combo. Kinda reminds me of a bumble bee. I would have liked the yellow, but without a factory yellow/black interior offered in the US, I passed. My other choice was Ti (Black was do-able too), but after seeing the Nordic Green in person... I went with it. First time I saw the Nordic, it was sitting on a car carrier headed to another dealership... the sun hit it just right to make it look purple. When I went to go pick it up, it looked Black... I like this color... alot better than the other greens that are out there.

I took my sis-in-law to the airport a few weeks ago, until then I'd never seen any other RX8's on the road. Heading into the airport, I saw a Winning Blue RX8, and leaving the airport I saw a Lightning Yellow and a Velocity Red. As I kept driving, I saw a Lightning yellow for sale in a USED car lot. Damn, wish Mazda would've offered that damned matching interior...
