you people are retarted complaining abotu gas.. ~20 mpg on a sports car ISNT bad at all. Id say rx8, as much as I LOVE hondas and have an integra as my other car, the s2k really is too small and not comfy. you may say you wont have people in the car, but as a 16 year old.. you will. I thought the same, I had an 02 mustang gt and didnt care that the seats were small, nobody ever sat back there.**** there were people back there all the time! (more girls in 1 car the better :lold:

Lets hope this doesn't turn into a thread where your buddy is posting pics of your mangled car while you in the hospital because you thought you had enough experience to drive fast or street race.

Get something simple and in a few years then move up to the S2000 or RX-8. You will save a lot on insurance and possibly save your life.

twinkie, i think it's spelled touge. It sounds like you are calling him gay.

KDL, just get the RX8, you never know when you'll need the extra room. If you take a trip or go to a national park and you're too lazy to set up a tent, you can recline the seats back and sleep in the RX8, which you can't do in an S2000. Sometimes a friend needs you to pick him up but that friend has someone with him.

Come back here when you buy it.

my mom pays my insurance. there is no way a 21y.o. can afford $4600/year. no accidents (that were my fault) 1 speeding ticket (pbj) and that was after i got the 8. insurance didnt change.

i do pay the difference between the insurance on my rx8 and previous car. (which is no small sum, its still only bout 25%)

i cant imagine being 16 would do anything good for insurance rates.

You pay $4600 a year for the RX-8!!!!!

When I was 21, I had a FD and insurance with State Farm was $3000 a year with full coverage and a $500 deductible. But I also had zero accidents and no moving violations.

I normally wouldn't suggest a FWD, but the Saturn Ion Redlines scoot pretty good, really cheap on insurance too. Only downside is it's a FWD or WWD as I call it(Wrong Wheel Drive)

well i guess im set almost. its a 2004 velocity red w/24k miles for 16k$

since the other one was sold earlier today and didnt update their site.
So you're trying to convince everyone how responsible you are, then go admit you'd try to drift it on public roads every friday? Sweet, man. If I see an upside-down 8 go up in a fireball, I'll know to stop and say hello.

Personally i dont want to see an 8 upside down, so i say get you mazda 3 and pretend its a fast car. And even then i suggest for you to get that one de-tuned seeing that your only gonna risk your life on the weekends

I have to admit, every time I see a 16yo get out of a brand new car, or just any really nice expensive car, I instantly get pissed off..

I suppose seeing 4 new mustangs, 3 new giant pickups, a Z06 Corvette, and an array of other dazelling new cars for the wealthy 16yo's of my HS class, I've had a jealous grudge ever since... Especially since I had to ride the bus..

If I had it my way, you'd drive a 94 Taurus..

The S2k isn't the torque-iest of cars either so getting an S2k wouldn't help much..

I was one of those kids that got a new car for HS, some people I went to HS with still have a grudge on me 3 years after graduation. At first it was weird, now it's just pathetic =/

If you plan to be irresponsible enough to pull chicken **** moves on friday nights with your friends then you don't deserve to drive a car like the 8.

Maybe a beat up oldsmobile would be more your style for a few years when you get that need for speed mentality out of your head =/

Believe me, you wouldnt take it to autox or somewhere to safe. If you're in a canyon or mountain and you have not seen any cars or have a friend with you. Then i'm pretty sure you're ganna pick up speed and start checking the limits and most likely exceed what the 8 can handle.

Thats my experience anyways, and if i didnt have some dam smart people on my passengers side i would have definitely done something worse then tapping a guard rail.

It's never a good time to put any wheels off track...and if you go completely off track...you have a fair chance of surviving since they took that into consideration (at least they should be) and have put run off zones where needed...

But as it was recently seen...two people died at a track day just because they went off in the one place that no one thought anyone would...

Now, repeat an off track scenario on a road who's designers had no concept of a "run off zone"....

Putting one wheel off on a public road has got to be at least a million times worse then putting two or even three off on a real track....

The margin of error and potential for disaster....it's simply stupid to risk it....nothing glamorous about it....just shining stupidity...

But maybe thats just me...
