RX8 VS Viper
Viper is sick car, but nothing like the murcielago, i was chasing one down the westside highway (NYC) and as soon as there was some sort of opening i felt like i was parked, but the driver sucked beacuse as soon as it was traffic, here comes lil red ridin hood and see ya!.... until the next no traffic part then 100 mph felt like 0.

Yeah, but some of us get slightly better gas mileage!

I know. Just having a little fun in this thread. Of course there is something to be said for having a car that's easy to drive fast.
I seem to recall an article in SPEED magazine I think it was where they pitted a viper against a lotus on two different tracks, one favoring straightaways one with tighter twisties. Viper won out on both but barely made it on the twisty track.
Would I put much faith in the numbers they came up with? Nope. This was the same magazine that compared some random modded 8 (geared more to show than go but still with a greddy turbo) and compared it to a modded z and something other car I can't remember. It was a shoddy comparison lacking any common sense by comparing 3 different cars, with different types of mods, and different levels of modding let alone comparing a car designed for show to one designed for go. Heck just mentioning that the modded 8's braking performance was actually worse than stock performance showed the modder wasn't interested in performance.
I'd like to see a highly skilled driver in a viper against the same in an 8 on a nice twisty track and see some real life results.

The Viper is mad-dog fast in a straight line. Unfortunately, with the stock suspension, it oversteers like a cat with its *** on fire.
Vipers run like mad in FIA GT, where they're competitive with 'Vettes, Saleens, Ferraris, etc. BUT... those are massively modified to (partially) correct their "I-real-fast-in-straight-line-duh" suspensions.

Yeah I think the Viper is about the worlds worst car to learn to drive fast in. You can get in a lot of trouble if you're not careful and you can be terrible in the corners and make up for it in the straights. Would make a driver with more ego than skill. Don't get me wrong, a competent driver in a Viper will easily smoke a competent driver in an 8. I think you should learn to drive fast in something like our 8 or an MX-5, or Lotus. Underpower handlers that make you wring every last ounch of performance out of the suspension and force you to learn how to corner properly and carry speed.
