for now its just talk untill i get my friend to put his money where his mouth is and actually race me. my friend has an automatic 07 tl type s with titronic and he thinks he can blow my 04 6 speed rx8 away, turbo xs ehaust with xpipe and obx header, secret weapon intake and hks ignition system, mm cobb accessport. im just wondering what everyone thinks for now untill i meeet up with my friend

No offense but all that stuff gives you like 5-10 hp at the wheels at most and thats being modest and considering you have a good compression motor.

go to a track and you can walk away with bragging rights just have a nice set of tires.

The TL type s would still probably win even with all those mods on. But it should be close. But please do it on a track... Dont kill yourself.

im in ct so its pretty much winter here thats why i tossed this one up. my friends and i already have are cars put away so we are waiting till spring to settle this one at the track. my other friend has a z with some mods im sure il be close to last against both

As other's have said, you're probably not getting much out of all those mods.

On paper, yes. On paper, they have professional drivers running tests multiple times. They don't just take the first 0-60 time or 1/4 mile time and call it a day. They do multiple runs and take the best time. The RX-8 takes a really good, aggressive launch to hit the acceleration numbers most magazines claim. It's not impossible, but the point is that he will have an easier time with consistent runs.

I did that **** when I was 18. I haven't since. It's kinda stupid to do that on public roads. At that speed, you typically don't have enough time to react and you've probably never had to react to anything significant at those speeds. You aren't prepared to do it as you dont have experience.

Also, if you topped out at 144, your car is running a little weak or something. I know it can go a little bit more than that before it stops and I was on a slight uphill when I did it.

It's a public road. You never know when someone might randomly decide to cross the highway. You never know when an animal might do the same. You never know when there's some small thing to destroy your tire etc. Point is... it's stupid to go those speeds and very much so illegal. There's a reason speeding beyond a certain point will frequently have penalties of jail time, impounded car, loss of license etc.

The forum also has a pretty strict "no street racing rule". You can argue against it all you like, but it's the rule so don't bother. It's been that way since the beginning and isn't going to suddenly change.

 

You will need forced induction to beat that TL. Save up about $500-600 and get that 55shot of nitrous. Thatll put you in range

TL has more HP and more TQ and FWD has less drivetrain loss. just suck it up many cars are faster than RX8.

i own both a tl type s (auto) and an rx8. and from my experience you will lose

286 hp w/around 240 tq

vs

232 hp w/ 160ish torque (Correct me if i'm wrong)
