RX8 vs S2k vs WRX

Is the RX8 as quick as the S2k or the WRX? I have not found stats about 1/4 mile times, 0-60 times. I know the s2k is really quick because I drove it and i know the WRX is good if you launch it right. So far I have not gunned my rx8 as it only has 120 miles on it but i am just curious because it feels like it has no power...

ps. I love the 8 either way

rx8 and s2k have less torque than the wrx, that is were you are feeling the diffrence. Its not a fair comparison either, 4door coupe, convertable, and a sedan. Diffrent suspension set ups, diffrent tiers etc...

AWD provides excellent launching capabilities and will likely provide the WRX with the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, if that really floats your boat. The S2000 and 8 aren't exactly torque monsters.

Ditto. The Crossfire has the awesome RX8 looks, S2000 hardcore handling, and WRX reliability and modability. Its fun wheel drive to boot. It's arguably the best car under a $100k. Not many people admit it though because its a domestic/german hybrid.

I think the magazines indicate 0-60 times in the 5.8-6.0 range for the RX8 and it seems like high 14's or low 15's for the 1/4 mile. Acceleration performance is a funny thing though. If you have ever spent time on a desolate straight stretch of road using a G-tech you will quickly find out how difficult it is to get consistent times, and also very difficult to match the magazines numbers. This is particulalry true of manual tranny cars. Learn how to launch your particular car and the best shift points to stay on top of the powerband and you can get some excellent results. Some auto tranny vehicles like my Syclone are dead-on consistent with 0-60 times within a tenth or so every time.

I think as far as the cars you mentioned go, the RX8 is very similar to the S2k in that they are great handling sports cars with high-revving engines. In stock form neither is a power house, but in their element as long as you keep the engine rpm's up they can hold their own pretty well. The cockpit of either the RX8 or S2k is a great place to spend time in and be entertained. Very similar cars in my opinion.

The WRX on the other hand is not in the same class at all, and is much more utilitarian and less fun to drive. It is slightly more powerful though in stock form than the RX8. That especially holds true for the newer 2.5 liter version. I know subaru's really well as I owned one of the early WRX's which I dumped 9k into mods, and then more recently a 2.5 Forester Xt MT, which was also modded with Sti parts. I have spent time behind the wheel of a few Sti's as well, and although they are nice, they still don't have the road feel and balance of the RX8.

I recently had two cars to choose from, a new 2006 Sti, and a new 2006 RX8. I chose the RX8, knowing full well what the Sti's performance characteristics were compared to the RX8, and also knowing how easy it is to mod Subaru's as compared to the RX8. Having driven the RX8 though, I knew it was the kind of car I was looking for. If powers the thing you gotta have, then we are also fortunate to have various options including FI solutions and nitrous kits that will even the game a bit more in the RX8's favor. Other wise enjoy the RX8 for being an excellent sports coupe and go find a twisty road to enjoy!!

It's not as quick as either. An older stock WRX and RX-8 are about as fast as one another though, with the RX-8 inching away as speeds increase. So from a roll against an older stock WRX (goodluck finding one) is about your only hope.

The srt-6 crossfire was pretty hot... http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtest...ire-srt-6.html but cost cash thoug.

http://www.modernracer.com/chryslercrossfire.html, the regular is decent too.

The supercharger version of the crossfire is hot. After the RX-8, I would consider it, but the cost will burn a whole in your pocket and creeps toward porsche territory.

I would say the crossfire is comp for the RX-8 in various ways.

Picture an equilateral triangle, with each car at an angle.

Q: Which is the best?
A: It depends where you place your focus.

Crossfire = Re-skinned SLK320
SRT-6 = Re-skinned SLK32 AMG
American design, German engineering

Yeah the SLK320 was no great handling car either, this is another touring car made up to look like a ***** =). Also the x-fire got an even softer suspension.

If it floats your boat, great! For me the handling of the RX-8 is too enticing to choose a different car over it, at least for less than about $50k, add in the requirement that it be rwd, have a manual, and 4 seats, and there is little competition.

Hey!! Thems fightin' words!!

All kidding aside. From your join date, I presume you haven't caught on to the fact that the Crossfire is an inside joke on this forum. I too recently joined this forum but I lurked here for a while and so I have seen a lot of the Crossfire threads.

Cheers

I used to be a valet at a Caesar's casino. Anytime that I drove a Crossfire, it felt sluggish and claustrophobic. JMO.
