RX8 vs S2k vs WRX
Is the RX8 as quick as the S2k or the WRX? I have not found stats about 1/4 mile times, 0-60 times. I know the s2k is really quick because I drove it and i know the WRX is good if you launch it right. So far I have not gunned my rx8 as it only has 120 miles on it but i am just curious because it feels like it has no power...
ps. I love the 8 either way |
Ike - here you go ......

RX8 > all
|
you need the crossfire.
beers  |
Ike where are you?
|
AWD provides excellent launching capabilities and will likely provide the WRX with the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, if that really floats your boat. The S2000 and 8 aren't exactly torque monsters.

ps. I love the 8 either way I think the magazines indicate 0-60 times in the 5.8-6.0 range for the RX8 and it seems like high 14's or low 15's for the 1/4 mile. Acceleration performance is a funny thing though. If you have ever spent time on a desolate straight stretch of road using a G-tech you will quickly find out how difficult it is to get consistent times, and also very difficult to match the magazines numbers. This is particulalry true of manual tranny cars. Learn how to launch your particular car and the best shift points to stay on top of the powerband and you can get some excellent results. Some auto tranny vehicles like my Syclone are dead-on consistent with 0-60 times within a tenth or so every time. I think as far as the cars you mentioned go, the RX8 is very similar to the S2k in that they are great handling sports cars with high-revving engines. In stock form neither is a power house, but in their element as long as you keep the engine rpm's up they can hold their own pretty well. The cockpit of either the RX8 or S2k is a great place to spend time in and be entertained. Very similar cars in my opinion. The WRX on the other hand is not in the same class at all, and is much more utilitarian and less fun to drive. It is slightly more powerful though in stock form than the RX8. That especially holds true for the newer 2.5 liter version. I know subaru's really well as I owned one of the early WRX's which I dumped 9k into mods, and then more recently a 2.5 Forester Xt MT, which was also modded with Sti parts. I have spent time behind the wheel of a few Sti's as well, and although they are nice, they still don't have the road feel and balance of the RX8. I recently had two cars to choose from, a new 2006 Sti, and a new 2006 RX8. I chose the RX8, knowing full well what the Sti's performance characteristics were compared to the RX8, and also knowing how easy it is to mod Subaru's as compared to the RX8. Having driven the RX8 though, I knew it was the kind of car I was looking for. If powers the thing you gotta have, then we are also fortunate to have various options including FI solutions and nitrous kits that will even the game a bit more in the RX8's favor. Other wise enjoy the RX8 for being an excellent sports coupe and go find a twisty road to enjoy!! JR :) |

Whoops, forgot something.
You should have bought a Crossfire! |
The srt-6 crossfire was pretty hot... http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtest...ire-srt-6.html but cost cash thoug.
http://www.modernracer.com/chryslercrossfire.html, the regular is decent too. The supercharger version of the crossfire is hot. After the RX-8, I would consider it, but the cost will burn a whole in your pocket and creeps toward porsche territory. I would say the crossfire is comp for the RX-8 in various ways. |
ike should have bought a crossfire.
|
and the cycle of n00b threads live on....
|
not just any crossfire, but a crossfire with lambo doors!

Picture an equilateral triangle, with each car at an angle.
Q: Which is the best? A: It depends where you place your focus. |
LOL the x-fire. Driven it?? Handles like any other american pos.
Enjoy it! |
Crossfire = Re-skinned SLK320
SRT-6 = Re-skinned SLK32 AMG American design, German engineering So much love for the Crossfire here is some background... http://www.autozine.org/html/Chrysler/Crossfire.html As is always the case with AMG's no manual transmisions SRT-6 |

For me the handling of the RX-8 is too enticing to choose a different car over it, at least for less than about $50k, add in the requirement that it be rwd, have a manual, and 4 seats, and there is little competition. |

Enjoy it! All kidding aside. From your join date, I presume you haven't caught on to the fact that the Crossfire is an inside joke on this forum. I too recently joined this forum but I lurked here for a while and so I have seen a lot of the Crossfire threads. Cheers |
look waht you guys did to the nubs lol
|
I used to be a valet at a Caesar's casino. Anytime that I drove a Crossfire, it felt sluggish and claustrophobic. JMO.

Ok, I think that anyone else that starts a post about which is quicker, RX8 or..... anything should be beat and baned. None of the three you mentioned were designed to drag. They were ment to go down a twisty bit of road as fast as possible. If you want pure 0-60 and 1/4 mile, get a GTO.
I was driving an S2000 when I bought my 8. I came VERY close to buying a realy clean used 05 STI earlier this year (I drove it about daily for a month). I didn't buy the STI becouse I realized I would hardly drive it once I got over the newness of it. I would spend all my time in my 8. In my opinion, the 8 is just as (if not more) fun, alot more comfortable, and a hell of alot better looking. I do miss the convertable at rare times. But that is what I have my motorcycle for. |

More than any that I have ever participated in. Not a great user-friendly environment, especially not for the so-called "Noobs". Noobs...thats a funny term...and here it applies to anyone new to RX8's, but also those not on the inside line of the clever sarcastic elite. As far as being car-savvy I can guess who the real noobs are. Not directed at mwc, but just an observation based on his comments and those of others. |
IF YOU WANT A QUARTER MILE CAR, DON'T BUY AN RX8.
should be in the freakin' FAQ... |
Except on thursdays night! :naughty:
|
well,
From 0 - 50,000 miles, the wrx sucks. So the rx8 and s2000 win that one. from 0 - people think you are gay . . . s2000 hands down. once the wrx is in the shop, and the s2000 owner is getting therapy . . .. RX8 is the fastest |

The "crossfire" was a subtextual option. You just had to know how to look for it.

C'mon now this isn't really about Ike at all. I think we all know what this is really about, don't we? http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...ng/lol-021.gif |
