Someone i know is trying to tell me there girlfriends GSR is faster then my RX8, even though the rx8 has more power he says it doesnt matter cause her car is lighter.... I've tryed researching it but not doing so well.

Yeah, people here like to pretend they don't do anything illegal in their cars. I say race the **** out of him and find out for yourself. Remember, driver skill makes a lot of difference. Obviously you should race away from people and others property but I'm sure you're at least that smart....

I'll save you the time, I'm a long time Honda head. Assuming both cars are maintained and putting down factory power levels, Driver will be the main factor in a drag race between these cars. If you both suck at driving and your cars have been poorly maintained then the average V-8 1/2 ton pick-up will spank both of you.

But on paper the RX-8 (6 speed manual anyway) is a second faster in the 1/4 and over a second faster to 60MPH.

GSR is lighter, does it have all the luxury and feature and safety as Rx-8?

It does not, plus even the RX-8 is heavier, it is still faster than GSR anyday.

and ur friend forgot about gear ratio, powerband,aerodynamics, and tons of other factors.

I remember driving the mountain chasing a guy in a GSR a while back during a club drive I was doing.

I recall nearly falling asleep behind him. When we got to the top he was all freaked out because of the massive brake fade he was getting.

I doubt my tires even came up to temperature. Good times.

 

I remember following a gsr through a windy section of road as well and being bored. When he waved me to stop and chat after, he asked if my lightly modded 95 neon acr was FI. He made sure to come up with excuses as to why he was so slow. Damnit. I almost forgot that I owned a neon. I'm gonna go hang my head in a corner now.
Your 8 is faster. Don't get into a stupid race. It will never end, and the honduh fanboys will still keep running their mouths. Next you'll have to race his brother's friend's swapped hatch, then that guys sister's boyfriend's NA eclipse, then someone's cousin's s2000, then finally a boosted 91 accord with more bondo than a paint store. I can't help but laugh at all the immature comments on here, I also own a '95 with a LS/VTEC built swap.

I will tell you first hand a GSR with all the bolt on goodies will not beat you, I walk from GSR's in my LS/VTEC build , yet my RX-8 runs away from me with no intention of me catching up to my own car, and thats with my wife behind the wheel of the RX-8.(Yes she's a pretty good driver)

Its no contest ...save your gas, if you feel like you have something to prove and want to shut your friends up , go to a track and roast the dog **** out of your girl friends GSR.

 

unless he is Lying and really has something else under the hood, i knew this kid in a red F**d up 95 coupe civic, i raced him in the wifes tl-s and he keeped up till the end of 2nd, he had the "famous H22" swap and a completely gutted interior and a tune. my tl was bone stock (AT) paddle shifting.

he still ran his mouth on escuses on why he lost. its so annoying having Ricers trying to race every acura with a type 's' badge. or any car that even looks remotely sporty; which in in our case the RX8 Sporty look= 'OmG ThAt CaR lOoKs MaD FaSt Yo"
