I always thought the 8 would have worked well as a hatchback.

Damn you tiny trunk opening! Damn you to hell!
LOL, yeah other than that opening the trunk is fine.

I wonder how the RX8 would have been if they made it a hatchback. No, not like a standard hatchback but the type they use with sadan's...the one that looks like the trunk is attached to the rear window.

I think that would have kept the look of the car while giving the owner a bigger opening. BUT, I guess the car would not be as good regarding road noise comming into the car.

One good thing about the tiny opening.

Direct quote:

"Sorry honey, I can't pick up your mother from the airport. Her bags just won't fit."

It's the little things in life that make it worth living.

not to mention less structural rigidity AND more weight

Well, I appreciate that you don't believe me. What I don't appreciate is being called a liar.

I'm afraid to say I'm not computer savvy enough to provide a picture on this, or any other forum. I will not be able to offer the proof you ask for.

But I have the satisfaction of knowing that it can be done. You're welcome to continue thinking it can't.

Well, the BS Flag usually means you're calling BS on someone, which means you think they're a liar.

The trunk is surprisingly large, but as said multiple times, the trunk opening is tiny. I had to buy a new laundry hamper since the basket I was using before didn't fit through the opening. But on the other hand, just recently I got
* my bag full of clothes for the weekend
* someone else's bag full of clothes
* my laptop and bag
* another laptop with bag
* a bag full of random car stuff (shop towels, 2 quarts of oil funnel, cleaning spray)
* a laundry hamper (springy mesh type) full of clothes
* 2 backpacks
in my trunk.

Then I had 4 people (including me) in my car and in there we had another backpack and another laundry hamper thing full of clothes. Pretty full load. I even stalled when I first tried to drive off since I wasn't used to the extra weight.

I've had two golf bags a trolley and three overnight (sports) bags in the boot of my RX-8. The clubs were full adult size but taken off their trolleys.

Three members say they've done it. Try it for yourself.

And post a picture!

I'll probably get out another time or two. We're still getting into the 50's some days. I can't complain though. I just came back from Myrtle Beach ... 10 rounds in 6 days !!! I'm serious about the 2 sets and cart in the trunk but I know you won't believe me without a picture. I'll see what I can do.

That must be a tight squeeze. I generally put my pads and chest protector in the trunk, and then put the bag across the back seats. Do you have to pull stuff out of your bag to fit it in the trunk. It's not the size of the trunk that's the problem for me. It's the opening. Maybe your equipment's smaller ?

I also did it. Two sets of adult clubs (although my bag is pretty small). It isn't super easy to get the clubs in, you have to put the heads in first, then tuck in the base. You should have no problem...

0 degrees here today...

Was it easy hook up the subs & amp to the factory stereo? Where did you have the work done? I'm in the Tampa Bay area.

I have fit three golf bags in my trunk with ease, and my friend is 6'3" so you know his driver is lengthy. My wife, my best man, and I have made several golfing trips with the 8 and have been very comfortable with the fit of the bags in the trunk. If you could have seen the amount of things I have fit in the car you would be amazed, I was.

If your bag costs as much as an 8 you must have one heck of a bag!

Last batch I had in there was two stand-bags (one is mine), and a normal sized cart bag (not one of those huge wannabe-pro ones). No problems.

Plus, with the 8, I'm always the first one to the clubhouse!

I have often carried two in the trunk. Three is probably possible with much struggle, but two is very easy.

No carts, and my friend had to remove his driver to get the bag to fit, and the sport bag had to go in first. The only extra I have in the trunk is a quart of oil.

No RX8 was harmed in the delivery of the item's below

Today my wife and I went to Lowes to buy some garden stuff and once again my 8 did things most sports cars cant.

I had:

3 bags of mulch
15 small plants
2 pretty big pots (plastic)
2 hanging plants
1 roll of 3x50 feet weed mat
1 box of "landscape fence" type of thing

The thing is, I had room to spare. Don't worry about my interior I wouldn't do anything to harm it.

I've said it and I'll say it again, I LOVE THIS CAR!
