Rx8 Rental

So the deal is:
My brother wants to go to Albuquerque, New Mexico to pick up a celica All-track that he is buying. I need to go with him. It is a twelve hour drive to Albuquerque from where I live (southern California). I don't have my Rx 8 yet, sooo i am trying to rent one from a car rental company. As of yet i have not found any company that rents out Rx 8s. Does anyone know of a company that will rent out Rx 8s?

Tl;DR I am going on a road trip and i want to rent an 8? what company (if any) rents out Rx 8s?

Thanks in advance

not likely. if you were in vegas or some large city like LA, NY, or Miami perhaps as I've see a few companies that will rent more flashy cars than your standard hyundai sonata. I had a mustang convertible from Fox Rental in LA which was decent, but have never seen an RX8 offered. If it were offered it would probably come with a tight mileage restriction like most "cool cars".

Its not likely to travel far in a very small sports car with not so good gas mileage

yeah I've been looking around and the only companies that rent them are available in Europe or Australia; also, with low milage resprictions. So, it looks like this is not going to happen

Try explaining how not to flood the car to every customer, they would also have to be all AT's since most people do not know how to drive a stick. A car rental company can make more money with a Chevy Impala.

outside of one off boutique rentals, you'll have a hard time finding one that rents a RX8. Why not fly there and save money?

I'm not aware of Mazda fleeting the 8. It should be real easy to get a Mustang V6 from most of the big name companies and Avis has started renting the Camaro LT and SS back in June, however they charge a crapload for it, so if you do get one, make good use of the tires

Try an airport. It's a longshot but they have luxury and sports cars. Maybe no 8 but you may find something better than the crap cars at the local rental. Also, you will likely have to be 25 years old. I got a Mercedes once and I've seen Corvettes but they are few and far between. Good luck.

Uhhhhhhh not going to happen. The 8 is a true drivers car, not a soccer moms grocery getter. Shitty gas mpg, and oil consumption is not something rental companies look for. They want to rent vehicles that need little or no maintenance for the renter for obvious reasons- ITS A RENTAL.

You want to rent a car that gets 17 miles to the gallon for a 626 mile trip?

Uhm have you never dealt with rental companies before? If you want something fun i would recommend a Silverado 4 door from Enterprise, its RWD and when i had one it was day after day of massive offroading and so many donuts an burnouts.

And if you want speed they have a few V6 accords they also rent which are consioderably faster then a RX8 while returning far better MPGs. Can be quite fun especially if equipped with an Ebrake, and remember to take out the air filter for that CAI "VTEC" sound, my fist mod on all rentals lol

I've seen a RX-8 as a rental. Can't remember which airport(I travel alot) but it was at Hertz. I would not recommend it as a rental, this one was a automatic, and most all rental cars are autos. When I have a long rental I usually get a Maxima, Tahoe, or a Volvo(I'm Executive club at National). I just had a Lincoln MKS as a rental and that was pretty baller for a 6 hour drive.
