rx8 owners manual

Guys please dont flame. I've searched everywhere on here, checked the sticky's and for the life of me I know I've seen a thread somewhere that gave a link to a pdf for the owners manual. I just cant find it!

Any help would be appreciated. I've misplaced my owners manual, and have had some issues with my dealer recently. I want to make sure that they do exactly what it expected on my 30K mile check up which is scheduled to be done tomorrow.

Thanks in advance!

grab your vin and hit mazda's website mazdausa.com and go to the owners section, you should be able to find it there.

For 30k miles...

REPLACE oil/filter
INSPECT drive belt
CLEAN air filter
INSPECT fuel line, hoses, connections
INSPECT cooling system
INSPECT coolant level
INSPECT function of all lights
INSPECT brake line, hoses, connections
REPLACE brake fluid
INSPECT disk brakes
INSPECT tire pressure and wear
INSPECT steering operation
INSPECT suspension and ball joints
REPLACE manual trans oil
REPLACE rear diff oil
INSPECT driveshaft boots
LUBE locks/hinges
INSPECT washer fluid

Mazda always does everything, I wouldn't worry about it. You can ask them to order you a new owner's manual, they're about $40-45.

Ya know I looked that over on the mazdausa site. and then I checked a past normal service record. They usually do most of those things anyway, accept maybe the brake fluid, and the trans and rear diff oils.....I'm wondering why will it cost me over 500.00 to have this done????...Oh well. Ce la vie!

Thanks for your responses guys. I really appreciate it!

If you are the least bit mechanically inclined you can do all that yourself and have the satisfaction of knowing it was done right. Then you can take the money you saved and take your sig other out for a very nice night on the town. Get a car-guy friend to help you. The shop manual is available for free download to guide you through the process if you need it.

I could do it with help, but wouldnt that void my warranty? I'm looking at another 45k miles...I took out the extended warranty, since my sig other is in Iraq 11 months out of the year.

As long as you can show that you (or any qualified shop) did the suggested services, particularly oil & filter changes, it should not void any factory warranty. [Not sure about the extended warranty. Read the fine print.] That means keeping a log book of everything you did and keeping all supporting receipts. You can even have the work done in an independent shop as long as you document what was done and at what mileage.

Personally, I keep a log book with everything done to the car and, if needed, I can come up with receipts from my files for oil, filters, other fluids and any parts I have installed. BTW, IMO, the dealer charges for these "scheduled" services are outlandish and totally unreasonable for the services rendered.

Good luck to your sig other and thanks go to him for his service!
