It is just a car, just because it has a different engine doesnt mean it is less reliable. I drove my 84 Rx7 GSLSE from Denver to LA and back within 2 weeks with no trouble (of course I do take really good care of my cars)! The only problem I had was running a little to low on gas on those LONG stretches of road (I now have a 3 gallon emergency gas bottle in the back for those longer trips!).

On top of everything else everyone mentioned, bring $400 with you. That will be the amount you will spend in gas on the trip, one way (Math: $2.29/gal of Premium gas, natl average x 15 gallon tank x (2300 miles/200 miles tank, conservatively--or 11.5 fillups one way)).

I also disagree with the bra installation. It's worse, rather than better, for your paint, as Atacdad properly explained. If you're going to put something extra on it, make it a clear bra.

And invest in a radar detector

Read Atacdad's post above. A bra will come loose and flap in the wind against your paint. You can imagine the damage that can cause. Plus, it just looks ugly on an 8.

drive baby drive! ive taken mine on two 1k+ mile trips, oftentimes at speeds in excess of 100 and the thing drove like a dream. the bra is a good idea, keep a few quarts of oil with you and if you have the money i HIGHLY recommend the ipod install
