Angry RX8 Was Hit Lastnight While Parked.

I'm So confused on how a freakin car gets hit while parked on a side street! Then out of all the cars that were parked there it had to be mine, didn't it? The guy who did it knows I wanted to kill him, especially because I saw him do it. He pulls into a drive way and then backs out straight. Straight why? Well, straight ended up being the Drivers side of my car getting freaking hit. That night I had everyone coming into the party asking about my car and telling me how great it was. Then when this happened everyone was telling me to calm down before I even moved. They knew it was my car and that someone just hit it. I mean I was on patio and saw and heard it happen! DAMN I'm so mad!

Here are some pics! What do you guys think will have to be replaced? I'm thinking just the Left corner panel. How much will it cost and how long do you think it will be for them to fix it?

Some more pics! On two of them you can see the difference between the right side that is fine and the left side that is dented! From what I can tell it doesnt look like theres any damage to the door just that one panel but I will find out tomorrow.

If they have the Qpanel in stock, allow 5 days in the shop for paint and replacement.

I've seen a couple of threads here where someone has either had their car hit or have smashed it themselves. (Tree)

The one thing I've noticed is that they are all Silver cars.

what's going on here?

You faired the lesser of the two evils. Fortunate for you, the door is not hit. I would have them paint a new quarter pannel before instaling it on your car. that will prevent overspray fromgetting where they can't tape and it will also reduice down time. when they are done painting the pannel, bring the car to them to replace it. It should be a half day job. the bumpercover comes off easily as long as you know where the hidden screws are.

So I assume that the guilty party had insurance?

Is the guilty party still alive?

Sorry to see your baby 8 damaged, but honestly it is not that bad. No frame damage or door damage. A new fender is all what you need unless you attempt to have it fixed. Either way, I suspect below $1000. Just try to relax, it could have been much worth, and sorry to see her like this.

Ouch! It's like a kick to the nuts. Just be glad there wasn't any engine or wheel damage.

Don't worry about the cost, the other guy hit a parked car and will therefore pay 100 % (or his insurance will).

Replacing the door skin would have been a much nastier job, my Miata was hit in a similar fashion, but on the door.

I know it's hard to hear, (and easy for me to say, since it's not mine. I freaked when mine got hit....), but relatively speaking, you got pretty lucky.

Yes you guys are right about there could have been more damage but I can't even open my driver's door due do the dent on the side panel coming in a little. I have to get in through the passenger's door. Hopefully they can get this done fast!

If the nitwit that hit you has insurance, then why would you have to pay anything?

It shouldn't matter what the cost is. Just make sure the insurance compnay uses OEM parts. You shouldn't be out a penny unless insurance is different where you live.

If he doesn't have insurance then get it fixed and sue him in small claims court.

Yeah I know that, were both going tomorrow at 8am. I just wanted to see what these parts actually cost before I go into the dealership. I'm just a curious person and want to know how much the dealers rape us on their prices.

Dude, you're worried too much about cost. Fogetaboutit. That's the ins co. problem. The only reason you should worry about cost is if you're thinking about doing this without contacting the insurance company. My advice: Don't even think about it. Call your company today if you haven't already. I bet guy who hit you is all like "Dude, its totally my fault. I'll take care of it, no sweat, but I can't afford my rates to go up so let's just do this without the insurance involved." Am I close?

Then, you get your baby into the shop and its a whole diff story, like he's broke, he's saying its pre-existing damage, etc. And you just want your beautiful car back so all of a sudden you're stuck with the bill, to late to claim it on your insurance. I've seen this like a dozen times in my years, the guy is all nice and apologetic then screws you, and in the end you're thinking like you shoulda reported it. Don't let yourself get stiffed like that!

Car is in Shop and may end up being over 1,000 to be fixed from what the guy told me. I had the guy who caused the dent there and he understands that it might be alot of money just for a fender. But the guy at the body shop told him that once they take off the fender there might be more damage so be prepared ahead of time for additional charges. Oh well not my problem any more. Car should be done in 3-4 Days.

You just need a Q pannel .

I got hit at the side of the road also, but mine car was hit in the rear q pannel.

I fixed the problem with my own money becasue it was a hit and run.

Make sure you check everything after it's repaired. The impact broke a seal on the other side where my light is and now i have a condensation problem. I'm taking it to the dealer to get a new light/seal .... Good luck
