RX8 feels sluggish after trip to the dealer

Hey guys, not sure if this is just me or what. But I had my car in for the gas tank recall last week. While it was there I had the 7500 mile service done even though im only at 6000 miles, and I had them check my breaks for the squealing. Anyway, in the last week, ive noticed that my car feels very sluggish, particularly in the lower rpms. They wouldnt have flashed my ecu without notifying me right? I cant think of any other reason why it would be slower than before it went in. The oil in it is fresh, and I havent added any extra weight. Any ideas?

the flash won't make the car slower or faster, although some feel like it does. And that's really what the recall is, whether or not they find any problems with the tank, they still flash the ECU to R. How has it been sluggish? You're aren't driving with the parking brake on are you, i know it sounds stupid, but i did it once.

Nope, no parking brake up for me. I just feel that when I take off from a stop (and im not talking about launching. I dont put the car through that kind of abuse. It isnt a drag racing car), the car doesnt have the same ooomph it did for the last seven months. It seems like my revs are going up, but my car isnt corresponding to them the way it used to. Maybe im just used to the car now. But it didnt feel like this before I brought it in for service. What did the R flash entail?

josh989, it's been reported that after resetting the ECU, the car needs to relearn your driving style and could temporarily be slower than before. I thought I noticed this when I reset my ECU.

The ECU adapts to how I drive and learns from it?

Ah ha, no wonder my 8 and I have so many problems. How can it learn from me if I can't learn to drive, myself ?

UK slow after service

Hi guys. Im new here. Just got my 04 rx8. i had my car in for service..had new plugs..leads and coils fitted as was due after missfire. Millage 37500. Even with the missfire before it seemed more rapid. It really doesnt feel as quick. Surely ecu only outputs what its programed too? Not learn??? In low revs mine is also sluggish untill about 6000 revs. But even then something is different. I was worried new oil wrong? Or plugs need bedding in? Any one else with this issue after service?

When I replaced my coils I didn't disconnect the battery so the ECU was unaffected. The car was definately much faster with the new coils!! A co-driver also commented on the big difference. All else being the same.

Once the car defaults back to factory settings I assume it takes several starts and drives up to temp to get back into reality. I've never gone to a dragstrip to prove how much difference it makes.

Make sure the coils and wires are hooked to the right plugs on the correct rotor!! I wouldn't be at all surprised if a couple got switched as it's easy to do if you do them all at once rather than one at a time.
