I've seen the blogs on RX8s with issues.... my 2k4 RX8 has under 39k miles. around 28 Sept I took it to dealer b/c the power steering and airbag lights came on . BOTH FAILED per the dealer. Clearly safety hazards to drive this vehicle. It's now 28 Oct and still no parts for the power steering. There were only 3 in the US. None in the 3rd party channels. I will cost about 2k for the power steering and $500 for the airbag. I've contacted Mazda Customer Service b/c this is really their parts problem... not the dealer. Minimal help from them. Dealer hopes to get part for power steering today. I love my RX and believe Mazda has made their problem my problem. There's a recall on this product for Mazda 3s and 5s. Not the RX. There was a notice on the Air bag electrical back in 2004 and my dealer at the time fixed it. I believe Mazda needs to step-up on both these. Any one have suggestions?

 

sounds like it's getting worked out. the delay in parts sucks. i hade a power steering issue fixed under warranty within days

 

Yeah, I haven't had that issue before, but I've been in a situation where my car was at mazda for a month.

 

Commonly the power steering issue is misdiagnosed as needing replacement but in actuality it is just the wiring harness which is a $80.00 part. Been there, done that. The airbag issue is uncommon but the car is 6 years old.
