rx8 for a 16 year olds first car? help please
Thats just my opinion though, i'm not exactly a toyota guy so maybe a little biased but give them a look will ya ?
As for the 8, reading all this is making me think twice about picking one up next month T.T
jus hit 18
I think you should look into the new SI's or Older rsx type s, ( 05-06 model ). Huge aftermarket on those compared to tc, well the rsx at least.

Ultimately your own life (and possibly others) are in your hands...whatever you do is your choice...but make up your own mind...
I'll agree with you the RSX is probably a no-brainer funmobile...cheap, fast, and right in the HS budget...
lol, if thats the case, you know who that dude is? he is one of the fastest drifter in the whole Japan, they call him God of Drifting or something there.
+Listen...drifting is a lame *** sport...I'm embarrassed that it is even considering a type of racing! It WAS cool until everybody started to do it in their neighborhoods with their mom's sedan, or their Honda Civic custom fitted with a fart can...And the Movie made it worse! No one goes around drifting while being chased by another car...I've never seen the movie, in fact I only saw the first one, and it was cool, until everybody started copying the movie. My point? DRIFTING SUCKS! FAST AND THE FURIOUS MOVIES SUCK TOO!

I don't think the movies sucked. eah, they weren't great, or anywhere near, but they weren't horrible. I will agree with the aftermath of the movies completely sucking though.

To the OP.
Oil - As others have said, check you oil regularly, but not everytime you fill up.
Insurance is going to be higher than any beater you could get, but if you have the money then go for it.
Reliability - Again, as others have said, take care of it and it will be fine.
My two cents...My first vehicle was a full size rwd chevy pickup. I loved it. RWD can be more difficult at times, but I like the control that isn't there with fwd cars. As someone said early, you can still turn if you are sliding, as opposed to fwd where you just turn the wheels and hope for the best.
The only reason I would recommend against the rx8 is the insurance depedning on the type of discounts you can get. Some require 3 years of accident free before they are applied. If you don't have the money, wait a few years until you can get more discounts.(an lower rates in general)

honestly, everyone's perspectives are very different, coming from different families is the key point. so when asking about opinion, there will be contrastive feedbacks.
therefore, my personal input is: if you are capable of paying for all the payments (mainly insurance and gas) then why not get an 8?
