hahah and with the 8... you get more friends (rx8 members! meets are awesome!) and girls
insurance not that bad.. the part that gets very annoying is.. GAS! i get gas every 3days
consider gas.. seriously.. for the most part in my opinion this car is head turner to the max. and when i got the 8 i knew nothing about the car.. just that the car is stunning
think about it!
Yeah, that gas bill must be a real strain on mommy's bank account. I bet she can barely afford to buy you that new M3.

you guys are all like hyenas. rofl. i think the majority are just jealous they didnt get a sports car when they were young and all the hot girls were dating the guys with fast cars in high school. and so they bitch about, wahwahwahawah. cry me a river.

i almost want to bait all of you guys. start a new account, "hey guys, im 15 and 8 months, i'll get my learners soon so i wanted to know if i should get the rx8 or the m3? which one takes to turbocharging better? my daddy said if i dont have an accident in the first 6 months i can turbo it."

rofl.

its one thing to say, "the dynamics of a rwd can be tricky" and "just about everyone crashes their first car." but its an entirely other thing to say, "OMFG I JUST HATE NOOBS THAT HAD MORE MONEY THAN ME WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL!! I HATE RICH PEOPLE!!" because now you're just trolling.

16, and a new RX8

Well atleast don't burn off the tires. I (yes I bought it) bought my first car at 16 and it was a 1995 Camaro Z28....um....let's just say I went through tires like I did gas. I somehow made it through highschool, and sold it and bought an RX8 at 19(current age). It's not as fast or sound like that of a V8, but I love my RX8, it handles like a dream, and it has AC. But 16 and a RX8, get something bigger. You an your girlfriends will have alot of problems negotiating within this car...

Please go buy something else. You're 16 and everyone, including you, knows you are going to go out and try and race the car and get embarrassed because you don't know how to drive the rotary yet. I know you are going tp say you do but trust me you don't. Get a lesser of a vehicle first. Save your money, learn how to properly drive a vehicle, then in a few years go back and buy a new RX-8. Get defensive driving lessons or go to an autocross school. It will be your best bet. Also, I said learn to drive the rotary because anyone dumbass can drive this car but not every one knows how to drive a rotary. Go learn first, have fun and stay here to learn all about the car first.

well that one should be common sense, but thanks from bringing it up "Rems31"
and if you want to figure out the limits of the car, take it to the track or something.

i never drove and rx8 but im asumeing the put about 290-300 hp to the wheels(which would be faster than a mustang gt) stock. that isnt to much power for him as long as he is somewhat responible. im barley 17 and just bought myself (i work alot) a 2000 ws6 trans, the car makes 375 rwhp and is a 6 speed. ive had it for about 2 months no tickets and never pulled over. this wasnt my first car though, i did have a slow car to start with. as long as the kid doesnt think he is a bad *** because he has a rx8 he will be fine. i say get it but thats alot of money for a first car.

well, the 8 doesnt put 300 hp to the wheels. try 170-180 stock, but our car is a lot lighter than your ws6

kind of an unrelated question but how much does an rx8 weigh, and what is an average stock quarter mile time?

wow rootski, chillout man, its not a crime to have ur family be rich and buy you ****, if you bought your car yourself and **** thats good too, for us well, we got our families to back it up.

besides, if they cant afford to buy leon an M3, then ofcourse she can afford the insurance and the gas, if they didn't think of these things in the beginning, they wouldn't be rich

right?

OOOOH, sorry if I hit anyone's sore spot

leon, chill, but ws6, the 8 weights from 2960 to 3100 depending on which model you have, the stock 1/4 mile times are low 15s to mid 14s

just to give you an idea... i am new to the 8's but I was in a similar bot as you... I m 25 years old now and turning 26 on the 9th... getting old... but anyways... I have been in love with cars since I was able to talk... my favorite toys were hot wheels.. whole nine yards... the problem I find is that younger generations want to look good and go fast no matter what the true outcome may be.... when I was 16 my first car was an 87 toyota camry with 12K miles on it inherited from my loving great aunt ... this was a starting point... even though this car wasnt the best looking or fastest car on the block... i appreciate starting out in that... I am just going to assume that you are not personally purchasing this vehicle and that your parents/parent is going to be paying for the insurance and car.... if you start out in an rx8 which is a nice car it can do one of 2 things to you... first it can get you into trouble... i.e. speeding tickets or wreck... bc i don't care what anyone says in here and I dont care if you are 16 and own a car... no young adult has enough self control not to get stupid in a vehicle like this... it will happen and you may not get into this sort of trouble the first or second or even third time you push that envelope... who knows you may be the luckiest kid alive but something will eventually happen... I will say it is mature that you posted these concerns on this forum prior to the point of purchase but trust me that inner kid will come out... Like I said I am only 25 and I am also a tactical driving instructor and my inner kid still comes out... The second thing that may happen is tat you are starting out in a higher end sports car for a kid... This will make you hit what I like to call the spoiled factor... this can cause flack in school... trust me I was there... I went to a small school in tennessee here and I was one of the first to introduce the import scene with my at the time new honda civic turbo with custom paint and wheel and body kit... It was an attention getter which I thought was what I wanted but it drew attention in the wrong way... Ok well I will end on this note... make yourself and whoever is paying for this car really happy and start out in something sporty and fun and that suits your needs... I recomend not the 8... you will appreciate a shiny new sports car much more after you have fully grasped driving... im kinda with saynotopistons when he said get a civic si... great cars to start in and fun to drive too.... look into something along those lines... maybe an acura rsx or integra too.... fun cars... front wheel drive... handle good... easy to mod if you want too with well priced parts in abundance.... plus you will save money in gas, insurance, parts, etc... more money to enjoy your childhood years... im sure if someone else is purchasing this car for you they would be happy to throw you some extra cash for a trip after you remind them how much money you saved them good luck either way and fully weigh your options!
oh and just to double post... my family had plenty of money to spoil the sh** outta me when I was growing up... thats why after my first car I haven't had to sit in anything under $20k stock plus mods I just wanted to give you an honest opinion on what I believe is a good and bad idea... and after re-reading some of the comments left I have to get this off my chest
1st: ws6... although your car has big horsepower and you are young... you stated youve only had your vehicle 2 months with no tickets or wrecks yet so you are responsible lol... not trying to flame you man but come on... 2 MONTHS? come back to this post in 2 years
2nd: leon... you dont have to defend yourself... just be safe and enjoy your 8 man... and yes modding it is addictive... which is why in my previous post I mentioned something less exspensive to mod than an 8 lol... but more power to you
3rd: police34... good idea on the defensive driving or autocross classes... as a driving instructor myself... I would suggest anyone no matter what age go throug a protective/ evasive driving course or a vehicle dynamics class... great ways to learn... but on the same aspect... don't fool yourself into thinking that the clutch on that rotary and any other car is different... they all drive the same with same controls for everday use... there are 2/3 pedals a steering wheel... signal controls... and a mt or at gearbox... dont say that he can drive a non rotary but not a rotary.... theres not enough of a difference in that engine than any other... one again not trying to flame... but this kid wants real info obviously and no one is giving him real life info
Once again good luck in your decision man... and have fun with whatever vehicle you decide on... make sure to learn the ins and outs of any vehicle to fully enjoy it

You can get the 8...and I am sure that you are one of the "mature ones". I remember when I was 16, and was often intimidated to race with the local high boys and often caved in. It is a great car and will treat you fine if you treat it with respect. Another thing you have to consider beside the maturity level is, and the insurance premium, can you afford the upkeep of this car?? Good luck with whatver you decide to do and in the future. You just asking these questions shows you are already ahead of the curve - ken

Maybe your parents should have bought you some books to go along with those hot wheels. There are things called paragraphs and punctuations other than "..."

When I was in HS there was this girl, and she had enormous breasts.. Her first car was an equally enormous yellow 78 Lincoln Continental.. Every evening it took her at least 5 minutes to get it started. Then one day the horn started blaring by itself. Everyone throughout our school could hear it in class. People tried to open the hood but it wouldn't release, so it blared for about 5 hours.

Perfect car for a 16yo..hah
