One of my last post was about a friend asking as why I bought the 8, well this one is totally the opposite.

I just moved to a new subdivison exactly a year ago, everyone (neighbors) has been super nice. Everyone always says Hi and have the usual short chit chat... However there is this guy that I always see when I walk my dog, he never said anything nor talk to me since I moved in. Which I don't really mind or care, but last week as I was getting out of my 8 he came over and said "Is that an RX-8?", "Yeah" I replied. "It's my dream car..." he added. So we talked a bit, and he finally introduced himself after one year. Now he always wave hi everytime he sees me. I find this to be great and also very amusing at the same time. Now that's a powerful car!

If only my 8 could make that hot blonde chick down the street come up and ask me for a ride :D

 

:D ... your day will come. Just make sure she's outside doing something and take a long time washing your car and then ask her for something easy like windex to borrow....Commence small talk and chit chat.

 

Everyone at work loves my car, and they always ask what's in it, or whether I'm planning on FI-ing it. I told them to give me a raise.

Well, not really. But yellow does look fine on an RX-8.

 

Yellow definitely is the best color IMO for the RX8. I'm usually one of those guys you probably don't like, that asks "why yellow?". But for this car, it truly is the best color.

 

When I looked at the yellow, it had a hint of green in it. Now if it was yellow-yellow, like the Ferrari or Lambo yellow . . .

To each his (or her) own.

 

Everyone asks me about the Rotary engine in it :D After I tell them, they don't seem all that interested in it (maybe it's too complicated for them) except they wow a lot by it's form. And then they say it's a great car as if I was driving a Ferrari or something.

 

I bet you looked indoors (or at a picture taken indoors.)

It's YELLOW in daylight I can assure you. No green. It's actually pretty similar to the Lambo colour. (Interestingly I was looking at a Lambo at a show here indoors and it looked really weak like you suggest...)

Plus it's so aggressive you don't need any of the extra trim - I didn't bother with the front air dam or the vanes.

(And yeah, everyone asks me "why yellow." I usually reply "I bet you wouldn't ask me that if I had a Gallardo.")

The MX5 / Miata looks good in the colour too doesn't it?

I overtook someone who was doing 50 at a lesiurely 55 this morning, on a dual carriageway, and I got vigorous hand motions from the bloke driving as I went past. Some people need to get a life.

 

Yea, i've met a lot of people because of my car..I love sitting at stop lights with the windows down and all i hear is, "hey! Hey! What kinda car is that?" then i still them and they're like, "I've never heard of it, but it looks amazing!" I was talking to a guy who had a new viper and he commented on how nice the rx8 was...that was an ego boost and a half..

 

I've had my Yellow less than a week. On the first day, after 7 friends offered some genuine oohs and ahhs, the 8th said, "That color makes you look like a [insert your favorite ethnic slur]". Pretty tasteless, even in a group of WASP's. He meant it as a joke, but I didn't smile.

OTOH, when I stopped for my first fuel fillup that night two guys came running over to take a closer look. One was in his '72 Corvette, and was lamenting the fact that he probably couldn't corner with me. I pointed out that I certainly couldn't accelerate with him, so we both made each other feel good. The other was a guy in a Prelude whose dad is the parts manager at the local Mazda dealer! I had to be careful, since I bought the car from another dealer. You never know who you're going to meet, especially in a yellow RX-8!

The next day a friend who drives a blue Miata saw my 8 for the first time. We both agreed to have fun driving, and also agreed that would be easy for both of us to do.

That's me, your average run-of-the-mill Caucasian. But I still get to drive a yellow 8.

The guy who made the stupid remark drives a battleship gray Chevy Tahoe. He uses it to tow his boat, so I guess you'd say he has two boats! :D

 

My favorite comment from one of my neighbors, was, "Holy ****! Which bank did you rob?" He had no idea that my car cost $25,000 less than his BMW 5 series.

Now that's fun.

And regarding the "why Yellow" question - here's my answer: Because the red is metallic! I love a red car - my favorite red is Porsche Guards Red. I had a 1987 Porsche 944 that I traded my '85 RX-7 on (big mistake!) and love that color. When the RX-8 was coming out, I wanted the liquid, non-metallic red from the 6, but not available!

So, ... YELLOW! YEE HA!
