As far as my experience goes, my RX8s have been reliable. Never had a problem with my 04, and I haven't had anyproblems with my 05. Where are you hearing these stories? Be specific. Also, try to post on the right sections of the forum. Posts like this should go on the RX8 discussion, not wheels and suspension.

remember it's mostly the disgruntled minority that have the problems that post on forums and make noise, a VERY high majority of us are just quietly and happily enjoying our perfectly running RX-8's :D

1. havent heard of flooding problems in ages..
2. only problems i heard of are the earlier models.. i believe the one built in the first 3 months or before9/03?
3. i have no problems. 3rd owner 9k miles built nov 03 owned for 6 months
4. note this car isnt built for power and straight line performance. just a heads up so you wont be disaointed or get your hopes high, its not fast but quick IMO

and lastly WHY is this in wheel section. has nothing to do with wheels or suspension lol just busting your chops

27,000 KM and no (serious) problems. Only minor things like water in taillight, squeeky brakes, sunroof rattle. Dealer fixed all of them for no charge since they were covered under warranty.

But you can't even pick up a new RX-8 now (although you can sign for one)...there's a massive North American recal by Mazda...nobody knows yet what the solution will be but it appears there's a chance of gas tank damage if the car is idled at high RPMs for a long period of time.

Seems those that come in here asking this question are pretty close to buying this car already and just looking for confirmation to prove they aren't crazy You aren't crazy man. Get the car, you know you want it.

I may be wrong, but everything that I have experienced, read, heard from some longtime rotary owners as well as the dealer is that most of the quote "rotary problems" come from people who don't educate themselves on it prior to buying and driving. ex. flooding due to not following startup/cutoff procedure, or not checking/adding oil...

It sounds like you are not one of these people since you have come to the right place looking for answers...(the owners on this forum not only care about their cars but care about helping people decide if it is right for them too)...therefore, I'd say as long as you pay attention to the car and truly care for it then it will serve you well for years to come...

Since day one I have done everything that the manual as well as forums have said to maintain the car and it has run like a dream with 0 problems except for squealing brakes which were replaced at no cost...However, I am at only around 9k

PS, someone beat me silly if in a few years I am eating my words on the 8 :p

sometimes forum dwelling can be bad for some people. A person complains of something and the next thing you know a dozen or so people chime in, "Oh, I got the same problem... Stupid Mazda for not thinking it through...Poor me." Not saying others may have been imagining ghost issues but most of the times those same issues are normal and not just for the 8 but for many cars out there.

its amazing that you read "all these stories about blah blah blah" but you seem to miss the number of people posting " i dont have that problem" or the ones that always post " i havent had any problems" etc. do you actually only see the negative posts?
