Bummer, your wife stuck you with three year's of payments. I assume if you were willing to make those payments, you would have bought the 8 a long time ago. I hate how spouses can be so presumptuous.

 

That's better than having a wife who buys herself the car for her birthday and sticks her husband with 5 years of payments!

So what was the real gift here? Was it the downpayment and the thoughtfulness? How much did she put down for you and what are your payments? What a gal though. I only have to assume you never had the courage to buy the car yourself, and she gave you that extra push. Either that or you were just waiting, and she took the initiative. Not to underscore anything, but she didn't buy you an rx8 for your birthday, since you still have to pay for it. Still, very nice thing to do, to surprise you, since you may have chickened out and never purchased one. My initial response was utter shock, because you made it sound like she actually bought you that car flat out for your birthday as a gift. I think everyone else thought same thing. Still a nice thing to do. Enjoy!!!

 

You are very are lucky man. Make sure you take time and thank her in the very small ways that say, I love you. My wife let me buy our RX8 for her (its was her turn) but she wouldn't have made it her first choice. She loves to drive it and can zoom,zoom with the best of them. I have been married for 30 years and have always involved her in all major purchases and we have never made money a priority.

 

I think your wife needs to talk to my husband about buying presents. True, he's been pretty good with the jewelry and flowers and stuff so far, but I've never gotten a car out of the deal!

It happens to be my birthday today. I wonder what my dear wife thought up. It shouldn't be too hard, I've left pictures with web addresses laying around of things like the metal scale model, the rotary engine model kit, radio control rx8...

On somewhat the same road as yours, my fiance put up with me on my INTENSE search as I was deciding on what car to buy. Even though we're planning on getting married, a house, etc. she supported the purchase, even though the money would've been better served for other things.

Life's definately better with an understanding and loving woman by your side!

That is a great gift--congrats. Dana is a model wife and if I wasn't married I would butter you and her up to get a chance to meet her sis. Just think, in my family I pay half the bills for the 8 and my wife drives it everyday. You got a good deal there. Where in Philly are you at, see my sig-I am probably pretty close. Join the tri-state Rx8 club and start coming to the meets or just check things out at the meet before joining--next one is May 23rd by the sports complexes (check the thread in the NE section). Bring Dana, I am trying to get my wife involved in the club. Especially since she drives the car more than I do.

 

Speechless???????????????? To me it's not so much the fact that she got you the 8 but more less the fact that she paid attention to your fantasies and dreams. By any means necessary she made them come true for you. jhmtssi, do us a favor and never screw this relationship up. If you do, we are gonna make you pay.
