RX-8 Specs?

I was watching some race on SPEED and there was an RX-8 running with 911s. It was faster on the strait. They said it was running an RX-7 engine. Does anyone know which engine it runs, and the specs of it. Like the HP, Torque, Accel, Top Speed, and other stuff.

The ST SpeedSource cars (orange and yellow) run the same motor we have, 1.3 Renesis. The GT SpeedSource cars (white) run a 20B 3-rotor engine.

Also, try this site: http://www.speedsourceinc.com/

They have a full race program they run through their MoTeC engine management. Race exhaust, gutted interior, full race suspension, 107 octane w/synthetic pre-mix. I'm not sure what exactly you want to know...

Right, because they only run an RX-8 engine. And that comes directly from Sylvain Tremblay (SpeedSource owner) and Dave Haskell (SpeedSource crew chief) who built these race cars.

The only other team on the Koni series that runs RX-8's is ROAR Racing...and if I'm not mistaken they are running the Renesis also.

I think right now the RX-8 is only running in the Koni and Rolex series. I checked SPEED.com to see what other races they televised today but they had nothing for today.

they call the sports player by another name. For example: The announcer called Amare Stoudemire, Salim Stoudemire. As we all know, there is no salim stoudemire on teh suns so obviously it was a mistake. Same applies with your RX7 comment.

Now if you prove me wrong about the 8 u saw racing with the 7 engine. ill eat my words.
The announcer wasnt the one to say it, it was the driver. is the 20B an RX-7 engine?

Now that explains everything...you were watching Rolex GT qualifying! SpeedSource runs that RX-8 and it does have a 20B 3-rotor. It is not an RX-7 engine. The first 20B's came in the old Mazda Cosmos. The new 20B is actually a modified Renesis. Mazda MotorSports developed this engine!

Here's some video of it in action at VIR!

The cosmo 20B was based off the same engine that was in the RX-7... it's the only production car that came with a 3 rotor, but it's not the only source of 20b engines. Mazda has been making them for racing too.

20B-REW "Production" Engine specifications
Origin Closely based on 3rd generation (FD3S) RX7's 13B-REW
Special 3 rotor parts based on 13G design
Capacity 654cc x 3 rotors = 1962cc
Compression ratio 9.0:1
Turbo Boost 0.7 Bar (=10.29 psi)
Induction Turbocharged (twin sequential)/intercooled (intercooler mounted
near car's radiator), electronic fuel injection (2 injectors/rotor)
Exhaust Peripheral Exhaust Port
Ignition Distributorless electronic ignition (2 plugs/rotor)
Power/RPM 280ps@6500rpm
Torque/RPM 41kgm@3000rpm
Max RPM Cosmo Tacho redline at 7000rpm (scale ends at 8,000)
Dimensions Length 672mm Width 549mm Height 520mm (with accessories)
Weight 350kg With all accessories & manifolds
Special Features Ignition knock control uses one sensor per rotor (on rotor
housing above trailing spark plug)
The reason why everyone uses the cosmo 20b is because the racing 20b's cost >$20,000 USD for the core engine alone.

^That's a good one! By the way, have you found anywhere yet to charge your nitrous?

Not in Fayetteville. I really don't want to have to drive across the state to get this done.

Sorry for the thread steal... but it's not like were missing out on anything.
