That's kind of sad.
I agree, I'd never own a Ferrari with the F1 shift. I just think it's so gay for the street. It's just for the hard-core and the idiots who can't drive sticks. I thought about talking my girlfriend into getting the M3 with the SMG trans but it really takes the fun out of driving in my opinion. My mother has a TL Type-S with "paddle" shifters and it's the trip-tonic style which takes like a full second to shift, it's pretty gay, I'm sure the RX8 is pretty similar. It seems that many car companies are going more towards the dual clutch/paddle shift set-up. New evo is suppose to have them.

I know, except it's not quite the same experience.

is the rx-8 really worth it?
Hmmm that is a really tough question, is anything really worth it?

I mean hell I can't say I hate my job but I'd much rather sit at home and piddle myself to internet ****. But unfortunately I've become addicted to the pay checks work provides which coincidently allows me to pay for that internet **** I love so much.

Hell just ask OJ who ALLEGEDLY killed two people, was it worth it? (apparently so for him any way)

I like to think of my Ocho as a cute chick with large breast than corners well but isn't that fast in a straight line, she is definitely going to require a little more maintenance than most if I plan on keeping her.

So in the end it’s up to you, if it’s really worth it. Can you dig it?

you know if you took the price of my car and all the mods, i would not come close to to the price of an elise..

and yes the elise is a true sports car... but what does that have to do with this thread, why do you veer off topic..

i could not put four people in the lotus.. and it would suck as a daily driver. so you point is about what?

but here is the killer comment.. you have a new name.. you are a troll it all...

you do have some knowledge, so why dont you go to a place and use it instead of crapping here?

This would have to rate as one of the most pathetic posts I've read. We undertake discussion and you respond with vitriol. After reading your crap it's no surprise you have failed to listen to others and jump to conclusions based on your own prejudices.

Believe me, you are irritating....and you are obviously mentally disturbed, or clearly thinking-impaired by natural or other causes...

These issues have obviously clouded your mind, so instead of been sensible and putting a good case forward, you have just sunk yourself...

Definitely... karting is by far the best value in racing. I like racing karts as much, maybe more, than anything else I've driven. Nowhere else will you find a closer level of competition than in karting either.

As far as performance goes, for 10k you get a machine that can go 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and can corner at 3g's based on mechanical grip alone. You would have to get a formula atlantic or f3000 car to match that kind of performance.

I may have driven my formula car on the street once or twice when there was nobody around.

For the record, I will say again that the Rx8 is a nice car. I like it. It is a really nice GT car.

The only reason I posted was because I was really annoyed when the simple question about the reliability issues of this car was raised, people suggested to get a Camry instead.

He could have told the guy to get an Evo or a WRX STi, because both of those cars offer the same type of performance ( actually better performance ), for about the same cost, and without the reliability issues.

Instead he tried to ridicule the poster by suggesting a Camry instead. So I decided to do the same thing to him, and tell him to get an Rx7 if he didn't worry about reliability issues. Then when he said he liked having a warranty, I told him to get a Camry as well.

It's not cool to dish it out when you can't take it. Considering how ruffled so many of you have become, it appears many of you can't take it.

On the other hand, many of you are cool, and have realisticly stated that there are also many other nice cars out there, however they are not your thing.

The people who are angry are the ones who need to tell themselves they have the best car in the world, and all other cars are junk, and the people who drive them are idiots.

Nobody who had ever been on the track would say this.

The fact is that running flat out on the track is so rewarding, that driving on street becomes incredibly boring.

LOL

What part of *I like new car* that u dont understand ? If they still sell Rx7 Brand new I will get it. not a problem.

People who ask about reliability deserves a Camry, Evo nor STi was designed with *long term reliability* in mind. what part of that u dont understand ?

and what kind of reliability issue does Rx8 have ? I dont have any. most people are happy, no issues, lots of people got past 100K mark, no issues.

and let me ask u, do you even have a Rx8 ?

You said we talk crap about other cars, but what are you doing now? Oh ur kart is so superior and all other cars are junk. Street cars are stupid blah blah blah.

Lets not forget, this site is called *rx8club.com*, not *blah blah I am a super racer blah blah.com* We talk about our *oh so slow compare to kart Street cars* here and we enjoy it. Yep, thats us, you dont like it? Too bad.

Go hang around on ur own kart site.

oh and, I think F16 can go faster than any 737/747/A380/Dreamliner/777, So does that mean they're stupid ? lol

You failed life. keep living in your kart dream

It's only a GT because its 4 doors/seats label it as such. In handling demeanor (which is THE criteria in determining a true sports car) it bests just about everything else except for a precious few. Vettes, 350Zs, and insert any other car made for and bought by the clueless masses simply can't touch it when talking about handling dynamics and feel. Yeah, "feel" is why people prefer the Stradale to the much quicker GT2s; but it's a concept that's not within grasp when talking to the naive imbeciles who judge cars by their magazine or dyno numbers (or by the size of the rear wing on their 4 door econobox).

Dammit, i wish id have read this thread before i bought my 8, i had no idea i was such a wuss. i guess ill have to man up and go get a 7. maybe i should get an elise (or how bout an exeige S) as well, just to be sure that pf100 dosent thik im a wuss

anyway, to answer the question "is the rx-8 really worth it?"

my previous car was a 2003 civic si, it got decent gas milage, ran on the cheap stuf also, and had pretty good trunk space especially with the back seats folded down. however it just wasnt fast enough, and didnt handle well enough to satisfy me. im not a professional driver by any means but i just wanted more. i have to say, that with the 8, i am completly satisfied. I didnt go and test drive any other cars, i dont need to. IMO the subarus and the mitsus are ugly. the 350Z and the s2000 are nice but for the same options i have on my 8 i would have paid an extra 6-10K more. th rx-8 is a perfect combination of what i can afford (barely) and what i want. plus its soooooooooooo pretty

I think the only cars worth buying $15k-25k (in my opinion of course) are the RX8, Evo 8, S2000, 350Z, M3, and the Sti. I've driven all these cars, and I can honestly say that for the money the 8 takes it. I guess it really boils down to what you want. To me the 350Z is a wanna be sports car, yes it has power, looks nice, holds it line through a turn. But the fit and finish and overall quality is poor. The S2000, pre-04 was nice, when they went to the 2.2l it gave it no recognizable low end increase and made vtec feel about half the length. It's a nice car, but when I push the S2K into a turn, I don't trust it, and it wobbles. The feel isn't there for me. The Evo 8 and Sti, are both good cars if you like utility, especially if you live where it snows. They have tons of power, handle nice, but they look like a 16 year olds car, they offer no class, total quality, and make you feel like, "did I really pay this much for this?" That being said the Evo 8, I like a lot, with the MR you get a very nice package as far as performance, it really has every angle covered. Finally the M3, it's a very nice car, but BMWs are junk. The car performs very well and looks nice (although it dosen't look to far from a 328). BMWs try to be too futuristic w/o quality control, if you have one get that extended warranty, every thing falls apart, especially electronics. That being said, it's hard to find an M3 in that price range w/o 90K miles. All in all the RX8 is the clear choice for me, I know I made the right decision. I get about 18-19mpg, and since I commute 90 miles a day, I don't like it but hey it's not that bad. You won't find many cars that perform that well getting more than 22-23mpg. So whats a few extra bucks at the pump? Well thats my 2cents!
Your post convinced me to go for the RX8 next year. I drive 120 miles per day. I sold my WRX for a Honda Fit to save some gas money but I am finding the gas savings not to be that substantial. I love my Fit, put some springs and lite wheels on it but I always had my eye on the RX8. My wife traded her Subie Outback for a Mazda5 and while at the dealership the RX8 was calling for me......
