RX-8:How to impress your car geek friends
OK, I love the popular thread about what we like about the RX-8. I thought I'd start a new one that's a little more specific. We're not talkin here about cupholders or vanity mirrors. We're talkin high tech, cutting edge or just down-right cool engineering features. I thought I'd start a bullet list then others can copy and paste it and keep making it longer. Corrections welcome of course:
- Carbon fiber drive shaft
- HID self-leveling headlights
- Drive-by wire throttle
- Low-profile oil pan with baffles
- 9,000 RPM redline with 8,500 RPM buzzer
- Renesis engine
- Forged suspension members
- Hollow front sway bar
- Limited slip differential [type?]
- Lightweight flywheel
- Variable-length intake manifold
- Freeflow exhaust system
- Cold air intake [??]

its a Tochigi-Fuji torque sensing LSD
pre-loaded rear suspension
light-weight flywheel
10k on the tach w/ fuel cut-out, car doesnt stop or blow up or anything, just stops accelerating, meaning you can cruise at 10 grand
direct linkage tranny and stick
self-adjusting hydraulic clutch
solid steel backbone (tranny tunnel, the console that goes all the way back
super-rigid chassis
sliding brakes or whatever they are called
a lot of this is somewhere where people used to talk about the things that are just "right"
list should go on
