You talk about pathetic. Yeah I sell trailer homes to your mom. When u grow up I will. Here's a concept for u. This what I do. When people can't afford their house payment. And they get letters from the loan company or bank telling them that they are behind on their house payment. Well what I do is called preforeclosure where I will pay off their house and give them like 5k to move out and get settled somewhere else. The big thing is I save their credit. Foreclosures in some states stay on their credit record forever. Some states its 7 years it varies. I will buy their house and then sell it for more. I don't buy trailers or slums. I stay in the middle class. I mostly buy houses in the suburbs of Saint Louis.
I didn't buy the vette. I got it as a graduation gift from my dad for getting my Bachelors in Business Management a year early. I would not buy a vette like my dad b/c I don't like spending over 30k on a car. I rather put it into my house which gains value unlike cars which lose value the minute u drive it off the lot.

And everyone else- stop replying to this person, because if this turns into a flame war we'll have to shut this thread down too. Ignore him and he'll go away.

Cool an FX 35 and an RX 8......two awesome cars. I am a car nut also, whereas, the hubby feels it's just transportation. FX35 is a beast(meant in a good way), I wanted it when it first came out but we already had a new Mountaineer. Enjoy your vehicles! Can't wait for the 8.

Sunlight silver, can you hook us up with some pics of your ride? I am considering adding the front mud-flaps to my app. package when it comes in but haven't seen it yet. Thanks in advance and congrats on the new ride!

In all honesty, "RX-8-is-slow" did ask a legit question before the flame wars started.
I don't own an RX-8, but would definitely consider an RX-8 over a Lancer Evolution. I just don't see whats so special about a turbo 4-cylinder?
There are a lot of factors to consider other than 0-60 times and quarter mile times. I think the RX-8 is plenty fast.
Styling is important and will always be subjective for everyone. Some folks hate the Evo styling. Its more for the teenager crowd especially with the huge wing.
How the car rides is also important. I'm sure the RX-8 rides much better than an Evo. From what I've heard the Evo's ride is very stiff.
Reliability. I'm more comfortable buying a Mazda than over Mitsubishi. We had a Mazda back in 87 and the car just would not die. Ran great for the 13 years before we sold it for a larger car.
In my opinion, the RX-8 interior is also a lot better than the Evo. The Evo interior looks kind of cheap.
Also, there are currently no other rotary powered engines in the US. I remember hearing the rev of a rotary engine. Wow, is it smooth. Had a biggest smile on my face afterwards.
Now I'm jealous! :-)

Just one quick question: why are you all mentioning the fact that people think this is a >40K car as bizzare ? How much does it cost over there in the US ?
Cause over here it sits pretty much around the 40K mark......

Fully loaded MSRP (full price before issues became public) $31,100; out the door for a little over $33K. A better price could now be negotiated I'm sure.
I love mine. The car is kewlest I've owned, moreso than the '88 RX7 convertible I used to own before my boy came along. To have a "family" car this sweet is a dream come true.

Hey all, sorry for the no-responses today to all the questions. Been busy today. It's sweet to see all the positive posts from everyone, and kinda nasty to see the pointless crap which had gone on with the "why did u buy the car when u could have gotten a faster car at a cheaper price" stuff. Anyway, thanks for the support. I love the car and all the other owners know why we made the choice we did. I have yet to see a car as well equipped both INSIDE and out and in the powerplant for this price. With the 6 sp. basing at 27 G's, it's one hell of a machine for the price, no question. So here's some other answers people were looking for:
1. I got the car from Suburban Mazda in Troy, and live in the general vicinity. I missed the dream cruise unfortunately this year. I tagged my 8 back in June, part of the second allocation (all 6 in the first one were already tagged), and the one I wanted, silver w/ red/blk interior, wasn't coming till the second allocation anyway, so I didn't mind waiting. They said the shipment was coming in August, and it finally came at the end of August, I think the 26th or 27th it actually showed up at the dealer. I picked it up the following day. I'm not sure when the actual build date was, but I think it was sometime in July.
2. Yeah, I can definitely post some pics - I'm gonna be out of town this coming week with no computer access, but I do have some digital pics a co-worker took of the ride (before the extra accessories were put on - mud flaps, fender strakes, parking brake handle, and exhaust finishers), and I have some pics sitting on a roll of 35 mm film of the "after" state. As soon as these are developed, I will definitely post them. I *can* say that I really dig the front mudflaps and fender strakes - they're very nice touches. To me, it completes the OEM underbody package. The exhaust accents are definitely cool, but I wish they would blend in a little better with the area they fit into... they look too "separate" if you know what I mean. I gotta look in the accessories brochure again, but i thought they looked much more like part of the fender than they actually do. In any case, I still think they're pretty cool.
I think that covers most of the stuff - I'll post the pics as soon as possible after I get back. I'll miss the 8 while I'm away

Please don't punish me....I've been using the "IGNORE" button for "Gee, I want an RX8 BUT SUPPOSEDLY ALREADY HAVE A RATTLE TRAP OLD CORVETTE THAT MY DADDY GAVE TO ME ".
My vote? Bounce the fool!

I have a build date of Sep. 1 and am in NW Illinois. I wish I could get one right now but I also have to sell my car. What are the most recent ETAs on delivery? I am getting automatic w/red/blk leather. Can't wait to be admired too. I was at a lot over the weekend on a Sunday and I felt like a salesperson....people were flocking around the car and I was proud to tell them all about it and how I am waiting on mine. I am too excited and 2 months is a long wait for me?

Not even knowing there was such a car, I saw the rx-8 for the first time back in august, and a week later, I was driving one.. I didn't have to pre-order or anything... they said they found one in oxnard that was my color choice and had all the options I requested (fully loaded)..
sounds like west coasters get a much bigger share of new cars than anywhere else.
