RX-8 Driving Experience
Hey, I'm new to this site, and new to driving. Im only 16 and have been driving for about a year now. I was wondering how it is to drive an 8 compared to other cars. For instance, my dad owns a 98 'vette. I've driven it twice, and i love it. The handling, the accelleration, everthing, i was wondering if anybody has driven a 'vette and an 8 and i would like to know the comparison. Thanks.

you're trying to compare apples and oranges my friend.
I thought about a '99 vette before I fell head over heels in love with my 8. The vette is a monster of a car compared to the 8 (HP/Torque is off the charts). But the smoothness of the engine and the sweet sweet handling along with the "zoom-zoom" grin on my face when driving the 8 makes up for anything missin in the power band. Plus, as is my case, a vette as a daily driver in Metro DC traffic is like entering a stallion in a dog (turtle or snail may actually be more appropriate) race.

Used to have a C5. Both are great cars, but very different. Best advice really is to go drive it. If you're in love with the torque of the LS1, which is addictive, you may not appreciate the 8.

Well, the RX-8 drives like heaven and a Corvette goes like hell.
seriously ...
Translation: The -8 is a magically balanced car with ideal weight distribution, fantastic handling, prodigious brakes, and it feels like an ideally crafted pieces of work - everything works in concert.
and the Corvette:
Loud, rattly, incredibly stiff riding, and goes like an F-16. It does everything with brute force. Fun, but I sure wouldn't want one for a daily driver.
I hear the C6 though is much improved on that score - as was the C5 over the C4 and late C4s over early C4s ...
