RX-8 @ 266 km/h - new record?
Whilst there are many claims in discussion of surpassing this speed, this is the first piece of concrete evidence I've seen of an RX-8 going this fast.
Is this a new record?

can't see the video but might be the first recording of an 8 going that fast. I remember there was a topic about whether it was even possible to get to 165...

seriously, people have the right to choose and do what they want. the passenger obviously wasnt held hostage against his will.
im pretty sure they know what may or may not happen, and they choose to do so. Illegal or not, they have the choice and capacity to do so.
if you dont want people to speed, get rid of cars... if you dont want people to get shot, get rid of guns.

True Aggie. I just hope none of us are involved in this sort of behaviour on our public roads.
Coming back to the car itself.....without seeing it, its hard to tell if the tires, a turbo or a combination of both contributed to that sort of speed.
...other than fuel additives?

If you're concerned about people dying focus on something that kills more people.
Gun deaths per year in USA (2004): 30,000+
Automotive deaths per year in USA (2005): 40,000+
of the 40,000 deaths, approx 6,000 were "speeding", of those speeding maybe 120-200 people were involved in racing or excessive speeding of some sort... of those 200 people killed, innocent bistandards? Who knows, even if its a high percent of 10% thats only 20 people per year.
Most gun deaths are comprised of murders and suicide (or instead of murder look at it as speeding car kills bistandard, and instead of suicide, speeding car is only death in crash). So considering a low value for murders of regular people that wouldnt have died otherwise of say 30%... thats 9,000 deaths vs 20.
Anyways, the stats arent "accurate" but close ballpark im sure.
