Rotor accent question.

I was wondering if the chrome front and rear rotor accent package is standard on some RX8's. I am looking at a 04 GT with appearance package and navi, but it is missing the front and rear rotor accents. Do the rotor accents need to be brought in a separate package?

They are Mazda accessories that are not part of any trim or package. They are aluminum and not chrome as chrome would weigh more.

You can buy real ones discounted from online Mazda dealers or parts dealers. Or get knockoffs on eBay. I bought a good aluminum copy on eBay for like 20 bucks. Works just fine. My rear had one from the previous owner. Just make sure its aluminum and not chrome. They just stick on with double-sided tape.

I also saw them for sale at www.rx8strakes.com. $35 for the front and $30 for the rear. Seems kind of ridiculous for a little piece of metal. I could see $40 for both, but not $65 for both.

Not concerned about little pieces of accents, just curious why it wouldn't be on a fully packaged RX8. I never got to look at them closely in person and I thought they were chrome (I stand corrected ).

Thanks guys.

Some people like them and some people don't and just more frivolous stuff to jack up a car's MSRP.

eBay is hecka cheaper.

I've got the rx8strakes ones. The rear fits great, the front wasn't perfect. But you can't tell.
