Got a 04 rx8 - almost at 50,000

Hey guys just bought a 2004 RX8 (V Red) with like 49,000 ish on it. After the dealer detailed it for me and washed it one of the taillights fogged up. He offered to fix it for me but id rather just goto a mazda dealership (bought it from an acura dealer). I'm just wondering since my warrenty is almost gone what should else should i have them check. Its so hard not to drive the 8 right now sitting there with 49,650 Haha.

I believe you are out of warrenty.

Drill a hole for the condensation to evaporate.

Should of taken the dealer's offer to fix it, but now the sale is final, I doubt they will.
If you can afford it, always go for a replacement tailight, if not, then yeah, DIY solutions.

^agreed would have had a better chance of gettin it replaced before purchase but possibly if you go back to where u got it and tell them the prob most places at least have a 30day warranty and something like that they might cover!

Why not have the Acura dealer fix it? They offered.

Bumper to bumper 4/50K
Core engine 8/100K

He speaks the truth. I did this to fix mine and I dont see the problem with it. Sure it isn't the best way but it fixes the problem AND you cannot see the holes.

Yea i got it at lougheed...

I was buying a RSX Type-S and the next day I went to finish the deal and he showed me this Red 04 RX8 in just perfect condition. Only 49K on it. I have just fallen in love with this car. Never really thought twice about Mazdas till now.

I got loyalty with this dealer so i got like 2k off prety much anything on the lot. The RX8 ran me 20. But the condition is sooooooo mint. except for the taillight lol.

The RSX was gonna run me like 18 and it doesnt even compare in my opinion.

Search for oil topics. This is the question that drives every veteran on here. But to quickly answer, most owners on here prefer to use at least 5W-30 (recommended outside US/Can) and some use synthetic although not recommended by Mazda. Personally, I use Dino, but think synth is okay as long as 100% synth and not Mobil 1, which Mazda rotary expert/engineer said wasn't very good for the rotary.

In around Vancouver, all used car markup are easily $4k+. Sales made more money on used car than new car around here.

Let me guess, the sales may be William? $20 including tax or extra? It should be a GT then?

That's my Acura dealer too. Family bought at least 5+ Acura from there and I know the owner of that dealership.

anyway, welcome to the board.

just buy new taillight seals from the dealer, replace them both and be done with it. screw drilling. thats just masking the problem and going in the opposite direction of the proper fix.
