Rotary rules!!

i was LMAO when i read this

damn my o-rings

just thought i'd post this. During my research prior to purchasing the 8, I was comparing the 8 and the G35. I bought the 8 because I had more fun with it and just felt more connected. Anyways, one of my biggest gripe was the reliability of the rotary. So I hope someone, who is doing the same kind of research I did, finds this post. i love driving this car!

wow, Nissan 'refuse to admit the problem', and will just allow it to fail on its own?

Mazda's voluntary engine recall campaign looks mighty classy in comparison

and this should be in the general automotive thread, since it's not really rx8 specific

Interesting news-to me anyway. I'll be sure to let my buddy that has a g35 know all about this. Ha-ha.
Why has this not made headlines like the 8's qwerks?

On a side note, what is the MREV they keep talking about?

Everyone should get in a habit of getting under the hood and doing a quick lookover it would save a lot of people a lot of money in the long run. I don't mind one bit checking my oil, i do it every time i fill up, by the time i check the oil my gas tank is full so it works out.

Wow, Mazda is the worst for service but it looks like they aren't alone in blaming the owners for their engining screw-ups.

half those g owners have extreme modifications and will get screwed come warranty time.

strange how a normal operation of the rotary can be such a "downfall" for us but when it ISNT supposed to happen to another car company's engine its all hush hush.

every idiot who complains about rotaries and oil consumption to me gets to see the pic of oil injectors i have.

"HERES UR CULPRIT MRS MORON, JUST PAY ME TO REMOVE THESE FROM UR RX8 AND U WONT CONSUME OIL ANYMORE.......u might have other issues soon tho.........."

I have had some pretty bad experiences with Nissan and several Nissan dealers. Comparing the Mazda service, and Nissan's service is like night and day. I would recommend a Mazda over a Nissan anytime.

One of the reasons I got my RX-8 is because it was a Mazda and they do stand behind their products (if you have a decent dealer). I have an old well used 1993 323 and two years ago they replaced my well worn seat belts free because of an old recall. Talk about a unexpected surprise! So far they have checked out my new 8 for all the right things and even threw in a free oil change!

Mom's old Olds was so poorly engineered that it 'blew up' when gasoline gushed, in an uncontrolled way, into the engine. The fully loaded engine was more powerful than the brakes! Mom and Dad were nearly killed when he started it up in a parking lot and it could not be controlled, crossed a 6 lane highway, went through a cinderblock wall and ended up planted into a garage and stopped only because Dad pulled the key out and threw it into reverse. Although some 26 other people had the same horrible experience (and not all survived to talk about it), Olds pretended it was the drivers fault until a class action made them see different - this was not only wretched engineering, the follow up was equally criminal!

I had a friend buy a new Ford Tarus and its wheel fell apart while she was on the freeway and had a car load of kids on board. It was made from an inferior ceramic material. She managed to get off without causing a wreck and was furious that she was given grief when she asked for a simple replacement.

Mazda has behaved in a manner than has been trustworthy for over 30 years! I hope Ford doesn't ruin Mazda's well earned reputation!

I am a 350Z owner. I love the car, but I absolutely HATE NISSAN AND THEIR SERVICE. You think Mazda is bad? Try getting a Nissan serviced. Those guys are total jerks (well Mazda ones arent much better), they are bunch of ********. My fuel gauge still doesnt work right!

I feel ya man. I just dropped off my 8 wedneday to have squeaky brakes replaced, which they promised would be done, a check for a possible oil leak, and to correct the drop they did on my car. One side is about an inch and a half higher than the other, and they said, well, all of that is normal. They said regarding the drop, if it is within 2 inches or less off then we can't do it under your warranty. F U SERVICE. I am gonna go chew them out when I pick her up on Satuday, it is going to be quite fun...

In defense on Nissan and Mazda and every other car company. It usually comes down to the dealer and even more specific the person you deal with at that dealership.

The best service I've ever received was from my Mitsubishi dealer, and they aren't even the dealer I bought my car from... Yes, some manufacturers have a higher percentage of bad dealers than others. But I know from experience that there are bad and good dealers for every representing every manufacturer.
