I went with Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Seasons. Absolutely awesome tires for me, I couldn't be happier.

I'll third the Kumho Estca SP, I had exactly the same issue with road noise.

Kumho Estca SP=problem solved.

I've always bought Kumho Ecsta SPT's as well. They really are great for the money, and I drive on them year-round. My older 2 have about 30k+ and still good tread. I have survived a few ice/snow storms, even though they are a "summer" tire. They will get noisy if you don't rotate often enough... I wouldn't go over 6k miles for sure.

I think I'll go with all-seasons next time, though. Glad to hear the Eagle F1's are good.

Road Noise

My '04 came with Potenza RE040 tires, clearly the noisiest tires I've ever heard. Switched to Kumho SPT tires and the difference was remarkable. Quiet and smooth. Even if your car didn't come with Potenzas I'd recommend Kumho SPT's. 32 lbs. is correct for the RX8 tires.
Be aware that SPT's are summer tires.

Agree with the Kumho Ecsta SPTs heck of a tire for the money, much quieter than the OEM Potenzas, and one of the best tires I've ever had in the rain. The OEM weren't noisy until they wore down then they really made a lot of noise.

All tires will be quieter when new, and noisier once worn. I don't know of any tires that are still quiet when on the last 1/3 of their treadlife.
