I was talking to a Mazda dealer and he was explaining to me that I could not get my own rims and put on the 8 because of some sensors in the rims. I wanted to know if this story is true and exactly what is he talking about.

They are talking about the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and they aren't telling the entire story.

You can use your own wheels, the TPMS will just not work.

Do a few searches and you'll come across a ton of info about this same topic.
