big question is the sound. i hate rice. rbs site makes it seem that this intake is pretty much the same as stock (2-3db increase) but mentiones that it is throatier. the 8 is my daily driver, and as beautiful as it is i was never a fan of driving around in my dads old 328i (the ferrari, not the bmw) b/c it was so throaty. how much of a difference do you notice, especially at higher rpms where im usually at? i dont want people to recognize me when im a mile away

Having bought 2 RB intake systems and exhaust systems for my rx7s, I can tell you that they don't try to stray from the stock sound by much. In all of my RB setups, they make the car sound a bit meaner but also civilized. When I decide to start spending money, it will go to RB first. I hope this helps some...
