That is REALLY cheap

The parts COST 111.60 and 28.00

So I understand the dealer has to access the security/PATS function on the WDS?

They must have to delete all then add.

correct they need to delete all keys then reprogram them using the WDs.

yes super cheap to RX8 club members only so cost +10% or so...

unless the moderators get upset and delete this thread then i guess you will have to go to your local dealers.

But you won't be able to program the keys or the fob anyway.

So 150.00 for the parts.
35.00 to cut.
5.00 shipping
est 50.00 labor to get the keys deleted then added

That gets kind of salty real fast..

And if I didn't yet I want to thank you for working the compatibility problem out..

It will give me more beer drinking time in Atlanta

ok i guess it is still confusing.
$150.00 for the parts (1 uncut key with remote)
(we do not cut them unless you are local to Ceritos, Ca.) ( i dont want to be liable for bad cut keys)
$5.00 for shipping within the USA
if you are near Cerritos, Ca. then we we will cut and prgroam the keys. for $35.00 (if you are not in the Cerritos area then you have to go to your local dealer to get them cut and programmed ( I have no idea what they will charge) you may want to call them first to see what they will charge you)

Im glad I was able to help out with the compatibility questions!

CHEERS!!!

Is this key compatible with other Mazda models? Like an RX-7? They don't need to be programmed, just cut but I don't know if they'll work. Anyone?

If you look at the keys there is a noticeable difference in the old VS new design.

The old style was long and thin.

The new one is thicker and less likely to break off

You may hear it doesn't matter but it really does.

I just looked at a FC RX7 we have in the shop. the keys are completely different in size and also with the grooves on the key. (not the cut part the sides have a groove the goes down the middle). so no the retractable keys will not wotk with RX7.

I'm still confused, ibfubar. Do all the 2004 keys I have now have to be reprogrammed in addition to the new purchased 2005 key? or just the 2005 key?

2) Is the key memory deleted from WDS memory or difficult to extract? Is there a chance for foul play there?

yes all your 2004 keys have to be reprogrammed at the same time. the memmory has to be deleted then reprogrammed. no chance for foul play, it is fairly simple for the dealer to do.

hi. i stopped by my local dealership during a break at work today.

although the part numbers exist in Mazda Canada's database (was told FE0-67-5RY is one number/letter short though), there was no price for one of the part numbers that i copied from this thread on page 2. can't remember if it was the blank key or the transmitter.

the dealer told me the one part that had a price attached was $186 ... so it'll be probably over $200 Canadian for parts alone - not including key cutting and reprogramming.

she told me to come back on monday because they usually have trouble connecting to the mazda database (not sure if that's what it is) on the weekends.

P.S. thanks again to ibfubar2000 for being guinea-pig and doing the legwork for us!

Did he have to mod the key, get a new keyless entry console core, or did the programing procedure:
Turn on off 3 times,
Press the door button 3 times
press the control button twice

ect.

work on the key as it came.

work with the key as is

Then "add new keys"
