A ? for the resident experts

Gentlemen...and ladies,

I have recently given serious consideration towards joining the ranks of
the few, the proud, the distinguished, team RX8. The indepth anaysis and
wide range of information the board members provide on daily basis is
quite impressive and commendable. With that said, and without raising the
ire of the most loyal members of the RX8 cult, i raise one simple ?

same miles, same price, same maintenance....2004 or 2005?

thanks, the pimp

huh? Same price for a 2004 as a 2005 with the exact same miles and features? Why is this even a question?

nothing wrong with the 04's, but if you find a good deal on newer ones then go for them.

IMO...........between those two..............05 all the way. This is not because I have an 05 either, I'm more subjective than that!

I regrettfuly failed to mention that the 04 is a Grand Touring Edition, with
a few more bells and whistles than the 05. Been a long week gents, I
apologize 4 the somewhat rhetorical nature of the initial thread. PAE

It all depends on what you want then. If you feel the extra "bells and whistles" are worth buying an older model for the same price, then it's your decision.

Hey Tears,

Is the 2004 that much of a crap shoot, even with a bumper to bumper till
50,000? Love the look of this ride, just a tad bit apprehensive. thanks

if you have it checked out thoroughly beforehand you should be fine with either one. and honestly, regardless of year or even car you should do that anyway. most of the issues with '04s came from the ATs but there are some that had issues with their MTs.

for instance my '04 is fine but my sister's is falling apart. however, i'd like to think i take care of mine, make sure i redline it once a day, got the new battery, plugs, and flashes, and check the oil regularly. i don't know that i could say the same for her.

take a look around and do some searching on these boards. many people ask the same thing about the '04s. if you're apprehensive, go with the newer one and you have an extra year on that bumper to bumper just given the fact the warranty started a year later.
